Royal Decree approving the Pressure Equipment Regulations

The Official State Gazette published on October 11 the Royal Decree 809/2021, of September 21, which approves the Regulation of pressure equipment and its complementary technical instructions.

The objective of this standard is the approval of the regulations on pressure equipment and different complementary technical instructions on:

• Boilers.
• Electric power generating plants. 
• Refineries and petrochemical plants.
• Cryogenic tanks.
• Self-contained breathing apparatus bottles.
• Transportable pressure vessels.
• Liquefied natural gas terminals.

The text regulates the safety standards and criteria for the proper use of pressure equipment in relation to the installation, periodic inspections, repair and modification thereof.

This Royal Decree will come into force in January 2022 and will repeal any provisions of equal or lower rank that oppose what is established therein and, in particular, the previous rule on this matter, which is Royal Decree 2060/2008, of December 12.
