Specifications on reusable hygienic masks
The Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE) has taken the initiative to offer free of charge numerous technical standards and documents that indicate processes for the manufacture of protective equipment for use by healthcare workers such as clothing, masks or gloves. In this way, its production is facilitated in the best conditions to face the health emergency caused by Coronavirus.
The Spanish standardization body carries out this initiative to contribute to protecting the health of healthcare professionals and their patients in the extraordinary and exceptional framework regulated by the Royal Decree declaring the state of alarm for the management of the health crisis situation caused by COVID-19.
Now, within the section that the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism has enabled dedicated to disseminating information on the manufacture of masks and protective clothing, a new UNE document called Reusable hygienic masks for adults and children is presented. Requirements for materials, design, construction, marking and use.
The document has been prepared in a working group created specifically for this project, being the result of contributions from entities from both the private and public sectors. The UNE 0065 specification is made available to the entire society and will be shared with standardization organizations at the European and international level, in case it is useful in whole or in part to address the health crisis in which the world's population is immersed.
