The contribution reduction system suspended in 2020 due to a decrease in workplace accidents

On December 28, the Royal Decree-Law 18/2019 of December 27 was published in the Official State Gazette, which adopts certain measures in tax, cadastral and social security matters, among which the suspension of the bonus or contribution reduction system due to a reduction in workplace accidents for the year 2020.

Within chapter III there is article 7 with social security measures related to the revaluation of pensions and other public benefits, contribution bases and ceilings and other related measures.

In point 8 of this article it is stated that the application of the system of reduction of contributions for professional contingencies to companies that have considerably reduced workplace accidents, provided for in Royal Decree 231/2017, of March 10, for the contributions that are generated, is suspended during the year 2020.
