Last Friday, October 23, Fraternidad-Muprespa_celebrated the fifth edition of FRATERTALKS where, coinciding with the celebration of the European Week for Safety and Health at Work of the EU-OSHA, we talk about “Ergonomics and TME: let's relax the loads” with the presence as guest ofMercedes Sanchís Almenara, director of Innovation in Wellbeing and Occupational Health at the Biomechanics Institute of Valencia (IBV), an organization reference in the field of ergonomics.

During the session Mercedes shared with the attendees the key role that ergonomics plays in avoiding musculoskeletal disorders, since we must not forget that according to the Sixth European Survey on working conditions, three out of five workers report suffering from some type of musculoskeletal ailment, constituting the most frequent work-related health problem in Europe.

MSDs (Skeletal Muscular Disorder) of occupational origin are alterations suffered by body structures such as muscles, joints or tendons, caused or aggravated fundamentally by work or the effects of the immediate work environment. They tend to significantly deteriorate the quality of life and work capacity of the person who suffers from it, and are the source of one of the most common causes of disability, sick leave and early retirement. This is a cause for concern not only because of its effects on the health of individual workers, but also because of its detrimental impact on businesses and national economies.
