The Royal Decree 164/2025 of March 4, which approves the Fire Safety Regulations in industrial establishments, has recently been published in the BOE.
The text aims to review the regulatory framework related to fire protection, for which a new regulation is approved that repeals and replaces the previous one, approved by Royal Decree 2267/2004, of December 3, which established the requirements that these establishments must meet, so as to prevent the appearance of fires or, if this were not possible, its spread is limited and its extinction is possible, minimizing the damage that the fire may cause to people, property and the environment.
The new royal decree also introduces modifications to the regulations for fire protection installations, approved by Royal Decree 513/2017, of May 22, which had as its objective the determination of the conditions and requirements applicable to the design, installation/application, maintenance and inspection of the equipment, systems and components that make up the active fire protection installations. fires.
