The importance of self-filtering masks for healthcare personnel
Within the framework of the General Plan of Preventive Activities and in the collaboration agreement +Compromiso formed by Asepeyo, MC Mutual and Fraternidad-Muprespa has published an interesting technical article titled Test of adjustment of self-filtering masks used by healthcare personnel in hospitals in Catalonia.
The work is based on the collaboration of the three Mutual Insurance Companies with the working group of prevention technicians from the health sector “FormalCat” who have carried out quantitative fit tests on a total of 38 models of self-filtering masks used by hospitals in Catalonia in the second quarter of 2020 in order to obtain information on the degree of protection they offer.
The article has been written by Rebeca García Vilariño (Fraternidad-Muprespa), Javier Anies Escartin and Santos Huertas Ríos (Asepeyo) and Rudolf van der Haar (MC Mutual).
The study indicates that it is recommended that hospital centers, and in general any work center, carry out the “fit-test” type adjustment test (qualitative or quantitative) with the aim of selecting the most effective masks to use and that best adapt to the facial characteristics of the staff, also considering the comfort criteria.
At Fraternidad-Muprespa we work to disseminate a culture of safety and health at work and for this we have a specific section on our web portal Technical articles dedicated to the prevention of occupational risks and development of a culture of health that we encourage you to consult.
