Turtle shells, a look at those who provide humanitarian, health and social aid
On March 24, the National Institute of Safety and Health at Work (INSST) and the National School of Occupational Medicine in collaboration with the EU-OSHA and the Spanish Network for Safety and Health at Work organize a debate on health and working conditions, focused on the film “Tortoise shells” which was the winner of the “Healthy Workplaces” film award in 2017.
This film invites us to reflect on the risk factors present in activities whose special characteristics constitute a challenge for preventive management, especially with regard to biological, psychosocial and safety risks.
The story takes us to a reptile sanctuary in Munich where army specialists collaborate in parasite prevention and corpse hygiene. This wildlife protection center becomes the place where a Syrian refugee must say goodbye to the turtle with which she arrived in Germany, since the authorities do not allow the possession of exotic animals. The turtle was a gift from her husband, now deceased, whom she left in Syria while fleeing the war.
The talk will be held in the Ernest Lluch room of the Carlos III Health Institute and will also be broadcast on the ISCIII YouTube channel.
