Coinciding with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, at Fraternidad-Muprespa we celebrate our Prevention Week in which the development of training actions take center stage to generate a preventive culture in companies and society.

This year we celebrate our sixth edition, in which under the motto “In the face of workplace accidents, open your eyes. ACTIVA VISION ZERO”, we will try to achieve our objective of making known another way of approaching prevention, more effective and that improves the competitiveness and productivity of the company. This new form of prevention will generate responsible thinking in associated companies, based on the values of promoting the health of their workers, promoting a change in attitudes and consequently improving safety behavior.

To this end, we have devised a series of zoom sessions that we encourage you to join:

  • April 27. Institutional Conference: We are all Vision Zero, where we will learn about Vision Zero from different institutional perspectives, involving the INSST, Prevencontrol or SGS.
  • April 28. Associated Companies Conference: Where to start, we will share how associated companies have implemented Vision Zero, their difficulties and their successes.
  • 29 April.___Gala VIII Premios Escolático Zaldívar 2804 (via the Youtube channel of Fraternidad-Muprespa)
  • April 30. Fratertalk#11: Sharing the good preventive practices of the winners of the VIII Escolático Zaldívar Awards.

This year, our star theme is Vision Zero, the campaign belonging to the International Social Security Association (ISSA) which Fraternidad-Muprespa joined 3 years ago. This campaign places its emphasis on people, placing them at the center of preventive activity, in the belief that it is people who constitute the greatest asset of companies, with the people who make up the company being the ones who will be the agents of change.

How do we make this change?Vision Zero is articulated in 7 Golden Rules:

FIRST RULE OF GOLD: ASSUME LEADERSHIP AND DEMONSTRATE COMMITMENT

The inauguration of the Institutional Conference that will take place on April 27, will be led by Natalia Fdez. Laviada, Subdirectora General de Prevención, Calidad y Comunicación en Fraternidad-Muprespa, quién a continuación dará paso a Hans-Horst Konkolewsky Former Secretary General of ISSA and ambassador of Vision Zero. Both are a clear exponent of this golden rule, since both demonstrate their commitment to safety and health through their actions and presentations.

In this first golden rule, which we consider capital, health and safety leadership is understood as part of the DNA of all the people in the company, starting with the managers. It is about being exemplary, leading by example and doing what is said to be done. In this way generating commitment with the company and also with our team, a difficult task if there is one, since the commitment takes time to build but is destroyed in a minute.

SECOND GOLDEN RULE: IDENTIFY HAZARDS-EVALUATE THE RISKS

Joaquim Ruiz, CEO at Prevencontrol and Dolores Rico, Director of Prevention in the Northern Area at SGS, will also participate in the Institutional Conference on April 27, both professionals with a long history in occupational risk prevention. We know that from their profiles, identifying risks has surely been a fundamental part of their successful careers, whose beginnings we guess were complicated.

This golden rule proposes us to give a twist to traditional risk assessments, those that we avoid because they are only documentation that we keep in the closets. We are going to prepare documents that will help us evaluate the risks and propose customized measures for each of our companies. Who will create these documents? The people who best know the risks of the work are the workers who do it, those who know the ins and outs of the machines and processes, we are going to involve them and through a work group with different profiles, led by the director and the prevention technician.

THIRD GOLDEN RULE: DEFINE GOALS-DRAW PROGRAMS___

Rebeca García, Area Head in the Department of Prevention and Health Culture Development, within the Institutional Conference on April 27, will tell us how Fraternidad-Muprespa has aligned with Vision Zero and what we are doing to advise our associated companies to join this campaign, helping transform your preventive culture, generating safe work environments. Rebeca, like what this rule tells us, proposes that occupational health and safety be a strategic item for companies. How can we do this?...

First of all, proposing some SMART objectives:

smart

And of course, proposing some effort indicators, we already know that if we do not measure, we cannot improve. These indicators must be special for each of our companies. will be reviewed and will be modulated depending on the results obtained.

_Esperanza Valero, Head of UT Management and Ergonomics Agricultural Section of the INSST. We imagine that developing programs, as this golden rule states, is a priority in your department, in a sector such as agriculture or fishing that is much more difficult to implement since its “target audience” is a business network made up of self-employed workers or SMEs. Precisely because Vision Zero requires a change of mentality and not a large investment, it is a solution for this type of sector.

The closing of the day will be carried out by Carlos Arranz, new Director of the National Institute of Safety and Health at Work.

FOURTH GOLDEN RULE: SYSTEMATIZE THE ORGANIZATION Y FIFTH GOLDEN RULE: ___USE SECURE TECHNOLOGIES AND HEALTHY

On April 28, our second zoom day will take place, which we will share with several associated companies: Spark Ibérica S.A., Geisa Fabrics S.L., Emica Bombas S.L. and ANAV, Associació Nuclear Ascó Vandellòs II A.I.E., who will tell us about good practices already implemented by them, they will tell us where they began to implement Vision Zero and what is most interesting, what event or thought or managerial change made them begin this adventure that is cultural change in a company. All of them are aware that this change is a long-distance race, in which they have already encountered obstacles whose solutions they will also tell us about.

In line with these fourth and fifth golden rules, these companies are clear examples that systematizing the organization and using safe technologies is synonymous with a decrease in accidents and therefore, a happier and more productive organization, which in the end, is what every company seeks.

The day will be closed by Álvaro Rodríguez de la Calle, Manager at the IRSST, Regional Institute of Safety and Health in the Work.

SIXTH RULE OF GOLD: IMPROVE QUALIFICATIONS AND DEVELOP COMPETENCES AND SEVENTH GOLDEN RULE: INVEST IN THE PEOPLE

The last two days of this VI Prevention Week, will be dedicated to highlighting the good preventive practices developed by our companies mutualists.

On April 29th a through the F-M Youtube channel will be the Gala VIII Premios Escolático Zaldívar 2804___where the best projects aimed at improving health and safety conditions will be recognized through five categories: Plus Prevention, Safe Mobility, Talking about Prevention, Walking towards well-being and We Feel Prevention, in addition to two extraordinary awards, one for professional career and another for the entity especially committed to the prevention of occupational risks.

E.Z.

Our awards are part of the recognition and positive reinforcement that we find so necessary when we talk about motivation and investing in people, as the sixth and seventh golden rules tell us. By rewarding work well done, we are reinforcing communication and participation, we feel that we are an important part of what we do and that we count for the company.

On the other hand, on April 30, and as a final touch to Prevention Week, we will have our monthly appointment with FRATERTALKS, the virtual space that allows us to have the best experts from different areas related to occupational safety. On this occasion, we will not have a single guest as is usual in FRATERTALKS but we will have five!, the winners of each of the categories of the Escolático Zaldívar Awards and who will share with us the good preventive practices that have led them to be worthy of such distinction.
