VIII SSVL: The 'golden hour' becomes an 'scape room' to save lives in Cantabria
"The golden hour" is what the 60 minutes following a traffic accident are called, a key period that can mean the difference between life and death.
Fraternidad-Muprespa, together with the General Directorate of Traffic and the Cantabrian Institute of Safety and Health (ICASST), organized this Tuesday an “escape room”, a participatory experience to strengthen decision-making and teamwork, in the face of a road accident, which took place at the DGT headquarters in Cantabria.
The plot takes place at the scene of a traffic accident in which four rescue groups intervene: Civil Guard, health workers, firefighters and civil personnel. Each of them is made up of five people and they have those 60 minutes, their 'golden hour', as the limit time to save María, the mannequin-victim, from a motorcycle accident.
“ Using the game as a learning tool, participants are immersed in a motivating and fun experience, which favors collaboration and teamwork ”declared Ricardo Alonso, Prevention consultant for Fraternidad-Muprespa in Cantabria and host of the session.
This is one of the activities carried out on the occasion of the VIII Labor Road Safety Week at Fraternidad-Muprespa, with the objective of promoting safe and sustainable mobility habits between mutual companies and workers. This year the motto is “Safe driving, sustainable mobility" and it is celebrated between November 10 and 16, World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
In addition, the participants did driving practice with virtual reality equipment, glasses that simulate how to drive in adverse conditions.
Along with the participants, the provincial director of the DGT, Jose Miguel Tolosa, María Luz Gómez, head of the ICASST training area, and Ignacio Carreras, Provincial director of Fraternidad-Mupresa, were present at the event, as well as María Jesús Martínez, technical advisor of the Mutua in Cantabria, and Ivan Sisniega, DGT technician.
The workers who participated in the experience came from the mutual companies Cruz Roja, McDonalds group, and NSCT Investments S.L.
By the way, together, they managed to save the life of the injured María.
