We finish today with this series of videos made by our colleagues (THANK YOU! You are the best!!) that we wanted to include as digital actions within the celebration of our “V F-M Prevention Week”. We are aware of the long road ahead of us, not only in solving this pandemic but also in learning from the mistakes made as promulgated by Vision Zero, in a transparent way we must make a self-assessment of how we have done it and what the next steps are. We are prevention technicians, always immersed in that Deming circle of continuous improvement. We do not stop, if we stop it is a bad sign, we will win and we will also convince.

On this occasion it is our colleague Alejandro Quintana Rivero, Senior Technician in Occupational Risk Prevention, with extensive experience in these preventive struggles who has been kind enough to share with us some brief reflections.

Let's get to it:

Wisdom:

  1. Broad and in-depth knowledge acquired through study or experience.
  2. ___Power of people to act sensibly, prudently or correct.

We are passing a tough test. Very hard. I see our health workers fighting hard against the monster. All our admiration, all our respect, all our applause will surely comfort you. But they don't protect them. Protection is something else, and prevention technicians know something about that...

Something has been done wrong. And again I'm afraid that prevention technicians know something about this. We are experts in the art of transparency, because that is the color of our success. There is nothing more intangible than the absence of facts and precisely that absence is our best result. We live in a permanent desire for “no news, good news”. In this case, we do have “news”, but are we going to stay there complaining?...it is not in our nature. We will emerge from this more resilient, stronger, more responsible and cautious than ever.

It is clear that this pandemic has not been the first nor will it be the last, it will depend on us that the next wave does not catch us on the wrong foot, we are not Finland and we have not been accumulating epis in protected caves for years but perhaps it is time to take good note, to learn good practices from other countries. We will protect our healthcare workers, who will continue to be on the front line, we will protect our colleagues and above all we will protect our families, adults and children. It is time to take action, there has never been so much talk about prevention as now, it is our moment and we are not going to lose it.
