In 2003 the International Labor Organization (ILO) began to promote the celebration of World Day for Safety and Health at Work and since then it has become a reference event that takes place every April 28 in which it aims to promote the prevention of work accidents and occupational diseases throughout the world. This is an awareness campaign within the ILO's global strategy aimed at focusing international attention on the magnitude of the problem and how creating and promoting a culture of safety and health can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025 focuses on the impacts of digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) on the safety and health of workers. This topic will examine various new technologies from the perspective of occupational health and safety including advanced robots, artificial intelligence and machine learning, exoskeletons, unmanned aerial vehicles, internet of things or augmented virtual reality. The campaign will also highlight new work practices, such as task automation, big data analysis, intelligent digital systems, and worker management through AI.
