Fraternidad-Muprespa participates in the SETLA course at the Madrid Medical College

Fraternidad-Muprespa participated on Saturday, May 28 in the course “Updates in the treatment of tibial plateau fractures” organized by the Spanish Society of Occupational Traumatology, SETLA at the College of Physicians of Madrid.

The session began by reviewing this type of injury, describing how it generates severe joint involvement, and how it is usually accompanied by a prolonged period of disability, which can also end with sequelae.

In addition, the latest advances in the management of specific aspects of this type of fractures such as injuries to the posteromedial and posterolateral angle or the tibial spines, the use of external fixation or the sequelae at the joint level have been presented.

On behalf of the Mutua, Dr. José Luis Bada, traumatologist from the Barcelona delegation, has participated with the communication “Management of osteochondral fractures of the knee”. For the preparation of said talk, he has had the collaboration of Dr. Javier Fraga, traumatologist at the Lower Limb Unit of the Fraternidad-Muprespa Havana Hospital.

The presentation of clinical cases, has been initiated by Dr. José Adolfo Orellana, medical lieutenant colonel and traumatology assistant at the Hospital Central de la Defensa in Madrid, who has presented a paper on “Management of tibial plateau fracture in a hostile environment” and has generated much interest among those present.

Other professionals from the Fraternidad-Muprespa Havana Hospital have attended the course, such as Dra. Andrea Paniagua, traumatologist at the Shoulder Unit and Dr. Claudia Anduaga, first-year MIR resident of our hospital.
