The Fraternidad-Muprespa Habana Hospital has had teaching accreditation in the specialty of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology for Resident Internal Physicians (MIR), for more than 25 years. The excellent team of professionals that make up this hospital is responsible for training these future specialists.
The specialty training program is directed by:
- Álvaro Minuesa , president of the Teaching Commission and head of the Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery service.
- Bárbara Batres , resident tutor and traumatologist of the Spine unit
The new center has the latest technology in all areas, in addition to using new and experimental surgical techniques that make this Hospital an excellent choice for the training of Residents.
The specialized nature of the Hospital
We put special interest in the field of research, participation in conferences and the publication of articles to complement your learning.
To complete the training that every resident doctor must have, external rotations are carried out outside the HFMH, in hospital centers accredited for the teaching function in those areas.
Residents carry out these rotations to acquire the pathology skills of the specialty that are not usually covered in the Hospital, due to its specific characteristics, being a center dependent on the work environment, on which its attention focuses.
There is a teaching agreement with the Gregorio Marañón University Hospital for rotations in the bone tumors, radiology and trauma emergency units, and with the Niño Jesús Children's Hospital for rotations in children's orthopedics. Likewise, residents rotate through the Santa Cristina Hospital for training in adult orthopedics , specifically, hip and knee prostheses.
