Our LEED Healthcare Platinum certificate
The Fraternidad-Muprespa Habana Hospital is a reference in medicine, health, technology and also in environmental sustainability. It has been designed and built following the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standard, the most demanding in the world for sustainable buildings from an environmental point of view.
In April 2019 it received the LEED Healthcare certificate in its Platinum category, the highest of those awarded. Only four other hospitals in the world (two in Asia and two in America) have this same certificate.
Currently it is the only one in Europe, which makes Hospital
The energy savings, in relation to a reference building, is equivalent to 43%. Its 600m2 of photovoltaic panels located on the roof of the facilities represent a 10% electricity saving. It has a Class A energy efficiency certificate, the maximum that can be obtained in Spain.
LEED certification is based on obtaining points or credits awarded by the US Green Building Council. These credits must be obtained during the design, construction, and equipment provision phases and also during the start-up of the Hospital.
A total of 86 credits have been obtained, the same as the other hospitals certified with LEED Platinum, in aspects such as efficient water consumption, energy efficiency, the use of alternative energies, the improvement of the quality of the environment within the building, the selection of materials and waste management during construction or the sustainable development of the free spaces on the plot.
