Healthy habits to prevent musculoskeletal disorders
We continue with our campaign to try to tackle musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), in this case we are going to try to list good habits that we can include in our daily lives to reduce these disorders that are so prevalent in the workplace. One of the factors that can reduce the risk of suffering from MSDs is leading a healthy lifestyle. Maintaining good postural hygiene both inside and outside of work is essential to stop suffering from these annoying pains:
- Maintain an upright posture to prevent back pain
- Handle loads in a safe manner
- Minimize repetitive movements
are some of the most important measures we can take. It is not only about organizing the workplace or taking breaks between tasks, or investing in new, more ergonomic equipment, workers also have a lot to contribute to tackle these ailments.
Other fun ways to exercise in the office are:
- Indicates a tour of the office for people to take in their daily lives, in a way that encourages physical exercise.
- Enable a area of the office to be able to perform exercise or install elements so that exercise can be carried out.
- Perform physical activity, for example, while talking on the phone.
- Install healthy habits such as “No Elevator Day”.
- Add ___challenges to daily routines or do a gymkhana inside the office, with different exercises at different points.
In Fraternidad-Muprespa we offer you in our Prevention Classroom a wide range of online courses so that workers can learn stretching and exercise techniques to reduce the impact of MSDs and acquire healthy habits, in addition to improving in the manual handling of loads or in the ways of mobilizing patients.
