New INSST tool: assessment of health promotion programs at work
The INSST after 2 years of research, reading more than 1000 articles belonging to the scientific bibliography and in-depth review of between 10 and 12 calculators from private companies that were dedicated to providing prevention advisory services, has launched this tool online with which we will be able to estimate the economic return on the investment made in programs to promote health and well-being for workers, in addition to being able to assess the methodological quality of said programs.
The team of experts in health economics, occupational health and preventive management planning who have developed this tool, chose to look at the Anglo-Saxon tool created by the Ministry of Labour and British Social Security in collaboration with the British Heart Foundation, since its health coverage model was the most similar to ours, in contrast to the North American model, based on private coverage.
The objective of INSST in developing this tool is to advise companies that were repeatedly asked in all the sessions they held how to calculate the return on investment made in health promotion programs, since they used this information to convince management of the goodness of investing in said programs. Furthermore, from their experience they knew that the famous mantra so often named:
for €1 invested in health promotion you get €2.5 in return, it is not correct
nor adjusts to reality.
We can access the tool at the link: http://costespromosalud.insst.es/

From the home page of the tool, companies are also helped in evaluating the return on investment in matters of business excellence and prevention management, for which several technical prevention notes are attached that guide in this regard:
