Occupational Exposure Limits for Chemical Agents in 2021
The National Institute for Safety and Health at Work (INSST) has published the new list of Occupational exposure limit values for chemical contaminants in Spain for 2021, which have been approved by the National Commission for Safety and Health at Work.
The Royal Decree 374/2001, on the protection of the health and safety of workers against the risks related to chemical agents during work, refers to the limit values of professional exposure as the reference values for the evaluation and control of the risks caused by the exposure of workers to chemical agents.
The document with the limit values is reviewed and updated annually for the adoption of the community professional exposure limit values (binding and indicative) or by the needs posed by changes in production processes and the introduction of new substances, new technical and scientific knowledge, as well as the evolution of the legal framework in which they are applied.
The updates and modifications of this edition affect 27 chemical agents, having incorporated the chemical agents from the fifth list of indicative professional exposure limit values of the European Commission directive 2019/1831 and thus consolidating the transposition of the same into the Spanish legal-labor system.
