Research, Development and Innovation of the Fraternidad-Muprespa Havana Hospital

At Fraternidad-Muprespa we are committed to the training and research of our professionals, to offer patients who are treated at the Hospital quality and effective healthcare, for this not only the best human treatment prevails, but also the use of the most modern techniques, which allow a less invasive and traumatic treatment, improving and reducing recovery time.

The healthcare team is in continuous training, participating in conferences, conferences and courses, for the application of innovative techniques with which to obtain the best results in the pathologies treated by each of the hospital units.

R&D&I would not be possible without the cooperation that comes with being part of the healthcare community. For this purpose, our professionals share with other colleagues in their specialty the studies carried out in the hospital through publication in prestigious scientific journals or as speakers in talks presenting practical cases.

The result of this effort for research and innovation is the implementation since 2020 of new techniques that improve the quality of interventions.

Some of these techniques, such as Arthroscopy-assisted tendon transfers, are part of the portfolio of the Traumatology Service and in particular of the Upper Limb Unit, due to the optimal results in the treatment of irreparable rotator cuff tears. Last year, the first interventions were performed by Endoscopy of the disc spine, for the minimally invasive treatment of disc injuries. Another technique is the standardized use of Echo-guided infiltration to increase the effectiveness of the infiltration by precisely identifying the appropriate point to infiltrate the drug. In addition, the use of 3D Printing has been implemented for the planning of complex extremity fractures, improving the possibilities of anatomical reduction and functional results.

We must also highlight the digitization of the Hospital's surgical block, with integrated operating rooms that allow to broadcast all surgeries live, facilitating the joint work of our professionals.
