The Hospital the expenditure of natural resources and produce the least impact on the environment.

Protection against COVID-19 has forced us to use a series of essential elements (Individual Protective Equipment, masks, disinfectant gels, protective screens, etc.), which were previously limited in use to situations that required a high level of asepsis, and which are now essential for prevention, therefore we cannot avoid their use.

In 2020, due to the virus pandemic, we have seen an increase in the removal of class III sanitary waste (biohazardous waste), above 1,600 kg, reaching the highest figure in the months of March and April, at which time the HFMH was transformed into a hospital for patients with COVID-19 derived from the Public Health System, which produced an inherent increase in protective materials and contaminating waste generated in the care of these patients. The production of this type of waste has been reducing to below 400 kg, as in December 2020, although we still cannot reduce its use to pre-pandemic levels, due to the protection measures necessary for the implementation of the “Waste-Free Hospital” protocol. Covid”.

On the other hand, if we have seen a favorable decrease in the consumption of sheets to 517 packages in 2020 compared to 750 the previous year, since one of the measures to reduce contagion is to minimize the use of paper, which was already part of the strategies implemented in the Mutua for several years, to reduce the ecological expenditure of raw materials and the footprint of CO2.

In this way we continue to maintain responsible electricity consumption in the hospital thanks to the production of Photovoltaic Energy, which in 2020 was 8.32% compared to consumption total.

Continuous improvement in the production processes that we need for the operation of the hospital allows us to reduce environmental pollution to a minimum. At the Mutua we are aware that all our actions must be in line with this sustainability strategy that will offer us future well-being.

The fact of living leaves a mark, any human action leaves an imprint on our nature and at Fraternidad-Muprespa we work to make that footprint green.
