Teleworking in times of COVID-19. Recommendations to face what we have left.
The state of alarm due to COVID-19 continues to establish the prevalence of the teleworking modality to avoid contagion. During the coming months, millions of Spaniards will continue to telework at home and, like any job, it must be carried out in safe and health conditions, taking into account the home as a workplace, electronic devices as equipment and of course the organizational measures necessary to carry out the task without posing added psychosocial and ergonomic risks. In fact, Royal Decree Law 8/2020 published by the Government did not ignore this aspect and established that during confinement the worker who was not previously working remotely can voluntarily carry out a self-assessment of his position coordinated with the company.
Teleworking as a physical office position that uses computer equipment leads to injuries in the back, neck, cervical, wrist, hand, visual fatigue or even poor circulation due to sitting for a long time. In the office we have our prevention managers who give us advice on how to prevent risks and what is the appropriate furniture and even so, sometimes we continue to adopt bad habits. Now we have had to move to a new scenario, the home office, which we have to readapt to work in a safe, healthy and productive way.
For this reason, from Fraternidad-Muprespa and within our "V Prevention Week", we make available to our associated workers, several videos with recommendations to face teleworking at home during the state of confinement, which are also useful for those people who already had some form of remote work during the state of alarm.
Throughout the videos, we will highlight different tips such as:
- Perform pauses every so often to reduce visual fatigue.
- Stretch.
- Electronic devices, make rational use since they have now become our first work tool.
- HTMLTAG38___Walking or exercising and thus avoiding musculoskeletal injuries.
- Find a specific place within our home to carry out teleworking that has correct ventilation and lighting natural.
- Ergonomic design of the position, including appropriate furniture, mainly table, chair, along with other support elements such as footrests or pedestals to place the height of the screen appropriately, preferably perpendicular to the windows.
Organizationally it is important to have a work routine from the moment we get up, differentiate the personal part from the professional part, disconnect at a certain time with other activities such as physical exercise or relaxation, and of course, maintain contact with our managers and colleagues, in this way we can follow up on our projects.
Last but not least, we must not neglect the issue of nutrition and sleep, since otherwise we could have consequences at the level of physical or psychosocial health.
To help you make these days of confinement at home more bearable and so that you can continue taking care of your well-being and health, we have created 3 challenges that make up a program or challenge whose complete information you can find in this link.
