At this time of year when we all review the achievements achieved, we close what has been an exceptional year for those responsible for Vision Zero (International Social Security Association, AISS), the year 2018 will always be remembered as the year in which the Vision Zero campaign was established in all countries of the globe.

As we already mentioned in a previous article, Vision Zero is the new accident rate improvement program Fraternidad-Muprespa based on the global campaign of the International Social Security Association (AISS) in collaboration with the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA). Focused on the idea that all accidents are preventable, if not immediately then in the long term. This strategy tries to put aside 0 accidents, to focus our attention on performing a job with 0 damage to health and to focus on the integration and involvement of all people, through the development of commitment, communication, culture and learning as a way to achieve this objective (0 damage).

For those responsible for Vision Zero the year 2019 will be the year in which Vision Zero goes from being a 'mere' campaign to becoming a true community whose members will hold meetings, events and what's more important: they will make Vision Zero become part of the preventive culture of companies worldwide.

The most important achievements that have been achieved in 2018 related to the campaign have been:

  • Carrying out more than 40 events related to Vision Zero, including conferences, company activities, and campaign launches both nationally and regionally.
  • Getting the participation of between 15,000 to 20,000 members.
  • More than 3,000 companies have joined the Vision Zero initiative.
  • Creation of a Vision Zero Business Council.

For the year 2019 the organization has the following objectives, equally ambitious as the previous ones:

  • Holding the first Congress to train the trainers in Vision Zero, which will take place in January in Berlin.
  • At least 20 organizations from different countries have communicated their intention to organize events related to Vision Zero.
  • New publications will be made by Vision Zero partners in which they will describe the measures to implement the 7 golden rules, approaching companies from very different sectors.
  • It is the intention to establish Vision Zero Councils or Working Groups for different international organizations as well as for Consultancies or Training Schools.

From Fraternidad-Muprespa, as associate member to this campaign, we have launched a training wave that includes more than thirty actions at the national level, whose times and place of delivery you can find in this link. The objective is to make our companies aware of Vision Zero and what measures can be implemented to begin to improve the company's preventive culture and thus achieve the goal of 0 harm. All these training actions will take place during the last week of January, so we encourage you to participate and sign up for what we believe is the new revolution in occupational risk prevention. This initiative is having a very positive response that we trust will last over time. We will continue to inform!.
