Fraternidad-Muprespa Hospital Functional Solution
The functional solution proposed for the Hospital's needs program is based on a double circulation scheme, that is, the external general circulations are separated from the internal ones. External circulation is for outpatients and visitors, and internal circulation is for staff, inpatients, and supplies.
This scheme is most evident in Level 0 and in the vertical communications cores, composed of a staircase and two passenger elevators in the external core and two bed elevators, two car elevators and a staircase in the internal core.
Based on this scheme, the program is developed in two rectangular volumes that are solid with the vertical cores, the one located to the North of the plot with dimensions of 11.50 m x 63.00 m, and the South one of 14.40 m x 60.00 m. The structural inter-axis is 7.00 m, except for the garage ramp access. In both cases, only supports (pillars) are projected on the facades, thus leaving completely open levels thanks to the structural solution of the post-tensioned slab. The fact that there are no intermediate pillars allows total flexibility in the internal distribution of the levels.
Level 0:
On Level 0, the main access from the Paseo de la Habana with the Lobby and Windbreak is located in the North wing, Reception , Admission, Administration, Benefits and Medical Offices-Social Worker. Next are the Public and Personal Cafeterias, the latter with a private dining room, both separated by the bars and Service area where the dumb waiters are located that connect with the Kitchen on the lower level. This wing is completed with the Assembly Hall.
In the South wing the Diagnostic Imaging and Emergency Room areas are located, both connected internally in case it is necessary to perform examinations on Emergency patients. The Emergency area has direct access from the outside, independent of the rest of the building, from Federico García Sanchiz Street. Next to the Emergency access, which is covered with a canopy, two spaces are planned for parking mobile Ambulances-UVI. The Diagnostic area by the Image , in addition to the direct connection with the Emergency area, has another independent access from the lobby for outpatients who need an examination, thus not interfering with admitted patients.
Level +1:
Level +1 houses in the North wing the 16 Consultations, the 2 Treatment and Plaster Rooms, the Ultrasound Machine and the X-ray Equipment as well as the Support Areas. In the South wing, on this level and on the upper level, there are 2 Hospitalization Units with 25 beds each, distributed in individual rooms, of which three are for long-term stays and two for isolated patients, completed with the corresponding Support Areas included in the needs program.
Level +2:
Level +2 is completed in the North wing with the Gym-Rehabilitation for admitted patients and therefore located next to this core, the Staff Changing Rooms and the Management and Administration area. In this area there is a Premises for Computer Servers and Library and Teaching areas.
It has been decided to arrange the Changing Rooms on this Level since they occupy a central position with respect to the activity areas.
Level +3:
On Level +3 in the South wing are located the Surgical Block with 3 operating rooms and the PACU area (post-anesthesia Recovery Unit) and the adaptation to the environment, designed so that although they are independent they can share the Nursing Control. In the North wing there is the Sterilization Center, the Dormitories of the Doctors on Duty and the Reception and Waiting Area for Family Members corresponding to the Major Outpatient Surgery.
Level +4:
On Level +4 in the South wing, the Hot and Chilled Water Production Facilities Centers are located, as well as Air Conditioners to service the building. These Premises have a roof that forms an inclined plane on which the Photovoltaic Solar Energy Installations are located.
Level -1:
Below ground level on Level -1, in the North wing and with natural lighting and ventilation through the street inside the plot that gives access, are located the Kitchen , Laundry, Pharmacy, Mortuary, Cleaning, Warehouses and Maintenance Workshops and Premises of General Electrical Installations and Medicinal Gases.
The first parking area is located in the South wing, with spaces for electric vehicles (eco-parking) in accordance with the trends of the Madrid City Council, as well as five spaces for medical vehicles, located next to the internal circulation core. This level has sufficient height to allow ambulance access for possible transfers to or from other Centers, regardless of the Emergency area.
Level -2 and -3:
The building is completed with two more levels (Level -2 and Level -3) of Parking. These levels also connect with the general communication cores of the Hospital in order to have flexibility to manage places reserved for staff, or simply so that they can access their vertical communication core through a card control system. In addition to this circumstance, an independent access is planned with direct access to Paseo de la Habana, to manage parking by rotation independent of the use of the Hospital.
Level -4:
On Level -4, between both vertical communication nuclei, the different cisterns are located, as well as the corresponding Pumping Stations.
