"Fraternidad-Muprespa will provide Madrid with a unique, sustainable and reference hospital in traumatology"
On the occasion of the upcoming inauguration of the Fraternidad-Muprespa Habana Hospital, we compile on our website interviews with our managers in various media.
Interview with Carlos Aranda Martín, Managing Director of Fraternidad-Muprespa. Madrid Excellent Magazine January-February 2019
Fraternidad-Muprespa, Mutual Collaborator with Social Security No. 275, has as its activity the comprehensive treatment of work accidents and occupational diseases, in their economic, health, recovery and preventive aspects. It has 117,000 associated companies and 1,239,000 workers, looking after them, a staff of 2,035 employees and 122 healthcare and administrative centers throughout Spain. We interviewed Carlos Aranda, its Managing Director, to learn about his news and challenges.
Question.- All Collaborating Mutual Insurance Companies with Social Security perform the same functions granted by the Law, but what is the priority of Fraternidad-Muprespa?
Answer.- As Mutua, the highest priority is to restore the health of the workers of our associated companies and the self-employed members and provide economic benefits with the best care and guarantee, that is our mission. We are very concerned about the high accident rates, which continue to increase in the last year, and it is our job to help reduce workplace accidents.
It must be noted that after the hardest crisis between 2011-2013 where there was hardly any absenteeism, the sign is changing to the other extreme; This implies that the financing in common contingencies, which is in a small fraction of the 0.051% quota, is insufficient, and if it is not corrected, no more financing is given, the system and the sector will enter into crisis, all of them, some before and others later.
On the other hand, we are especially satisfied with the increase in social benefits, which we provide from Fraternidad-Muprespa. These are the so-called special benefits: financial aid or for reintegration into the workforce, intended for workers who have suffered a work accident or occupational illness, and who, due to their personal, economic or family circumstances, are in a greater situation of need.
We highlight that in the prevention of occupational risks and within the area that Mutual Insurance Companies can do, this year we have had an increase of almost 800% in Bonus requests compared to the previous year, which for us is a satisfaction. This is an incentive that is granted to companies for their low accident rate, through the General Directorate of Social Security Regulation for having done a good job in prevention. In addition to the more than 16,000 activities carried out last year in advice and reports to companies, training and dissemination of prevention.
In short, we take care of people, manage benefits and improve the working conditions and health of workers.
P.- Fraternidad-Muprespa has its national structure in Madrid, where it has two hospitals. One of them is about to open with a newly built building. How will it be different from other hospitals?
R.- We are pleased to say that the Fraternidad-Muprespa Habana Hospital is going to be the first hospital with LEED certification in Spain, as it has been built following construction criteria with non-polluting materials, with efficient use of water, great energy savings and use of solar energy. It will be the most sustainable hospital in the sector, with an optimal functional design, conceived digitally and with first-class healthcare technology.
In addition, we intend for it to be a reference center in traumatology, with prestigious professionals who will apply the most avant-garde techniques and who will help the recovery of the injured to be optimal, all with comprehensive care for and by the patient.Another important detail is the only hospital in the sector that is in the center of the city of Madrid, perfectly connected to all means of transport.
We are convinced of the importance for the Mutua, its clients and for the city of Madrid of a hospital where excellence will be seen and felt. Where we will continue working with the same enthusiasm and commitment that Fraternidad-Muprespa demonstrates in all its facets.
P.- They have just renewed the Madrid Excellent Seal. What does this Brand mean for the Entity?
R.- Quality is another of our priorities that entails extra effort for any organization and sometimes causes initial rejection due to the paperwork and apparent added bureaucracy, but it always implies a differential seal; Perhaps it is easier at first to perceive the quality in a work than in a mutual one, because there is a certain resistance and its benefits are not clearly and quickly seen. But for me it was a safe bet and a necessity, which is why in 2011 the Quality department was created, with specialized and professional people. Thus, in 2016 the new model began and in 2017 it was completed; no one disagrees or discusses its importance and value in our organization, as in any other. With our recent renewal of the Madrid Excellent Seal, we highlight the relevance of these certifications, which provide our Entity with an added bonus.
P. How does Fraternidad-Muprespa face the challenges related to the digitalization of the services it offers?
R. We are immersed in a digital transformation project that is reflected in our Corporate Strategic Plan (2018-2020), because our priority is to continue offering a close, agile and professional service to all our clients. For this reason, our management staff has been trained in this matter; we have more than 40 initiatives related to digitalization, most of them aimed at patients. It is essential to provide our clients with digital tools with which they can carry out the greatest number of procedures possible, not simply to offer a digital experience in itself, but to provide real value to their needs. In short, offer a digital experience tailored to our mutual members.
P. What challenges does Fraternidad-Muprespa have for 2019?
R.- 2019 is a very important year for us: we turn 90 years as Mutua, there are few companies that are fortunate enough to reach this age. On this anniversary we want to highlight our history of almost a century of work and service to our mutual members and protected workers, highlighting our closeness, commitment and fraternidad with companies as well as our professionalism and seriousness.
It will be a special year, because in addition, our new Fraternidad-Muprespa Havana hospital will already be operating, which will help improve the health of workers. And we will continue working with the same zeal to continue as Mutua for another 90 years.
