Fraternidad-Muprespa promotes preventive culture in a new Meetings with the Mutual webinar
Fraternidad-Muprespa held the Meetings with the Mutual webinar, a space for companies, consultancies, and professionals with technical, updated and practical information on Social Security, benefit management, occupational risk prevention and labor regulations, with an informative and expert approach.
Precisely the prevention of occupational risks was the focus of this new edition, which is part of the XI Prevention Week with which the Mutual Fund commemorates the World Day for Safety and Health at Work (April 28). This has as its motto "Circular security. The commitment that unites us all", and has served the Mutua to reaffirm its adherence to the recognition of the year 2026 as the Year of Safety and Health at Work.
Preventive consulting and role of advice
This Thursday's webinar, with the title “ Mutua Preventive Consulting to reduce the accident rate of your companies", was presented by Silvia Vela, director of Communication and Institutional Relations of the Mutua, who introduced the topic and gave way to the speaker,David Revillo, senior technician in occupational risk prevention in the Department of Prevention and Health Culture of the Mutua and specialized in the field of occupational road safety.
Revillo stressed that one of the Mutua's main tasks is to reduce workplace accidents, and that preventive consulting is key support for consultancies, self-employed workers and SMEs. “We want to turn prevention into a differential value, beyond the administrative procedure", he noted, highlighting the role of the advisor as the first interlocutor in preventive matters for many companies.
During his speech, he recalled the WHO definition of health and the need to address the four preventive specialties: safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and psychosociology, and health surveillance. He also warned about the consequences of not intervening in prevention: from personal harm to administrative sanctions, benefit surcharges and civil or criminal liabilities.
The consultant explained the different modalities of preventive organization in companies and the complementary role played by mutual insurance companies, covered by the regulations that regulate the preventive activities of Social Security. He stressed that 99.8% of the Spanish business fabric is made up of SMEs and the self-employed, which guides the entity's focus of action.
Fraternidad-Muprespa, he explained, works under the Vision Zero philosophy, which considers that all occupational accidents and illnesses are preventable. Revillo highlighted the importance of leadership, communication and participation to strengthen the preventive culture, as well as the positive impact of investment in prevention, supported by international studies that estimate a return of 2.2 euros for every euro invested.
Tools, digital resources and support for companies
The webinar also addressed the mutual company's work methodology, based on personalized initial diagnoses, root cause analysis, accident studies and practical tools to improve preventive management. Revillo recalled that many companies are unaware of the scope of support that mutual insurance companies can offer them and encouraged consultancies to take advantage of these resources.
For example, he cited virtual reality workshops, with recently renovated equipment focused on road safety, although immersive experiences focused on ergonomics will also be incorporated soon. “These dynamics allow workers to experience critical situations safely, promoting awareness and the adoption of preventive habits,” he explained.
He also referred to the reports that mutual companies can have access to thanks to the Fraternidad-Muprespa Digital Office, which includes a specific section and allows them to consult in detail their professional contingencies, for example, analyze their own indices, compare them with those of the sector and view the information segmented by gender.
Among the available reports, the accident certificate stands out, which can be requested at any time for a specific period and is usually required in tenders, audits or business coordination processes. This functionality offers consultancies and companies a clear vision of the causes and trends of their accident rate, facilitating preventive decision-making.
The session concluded with a question period and the invitation, by Silvia Vela, to attend the next webinar, with Ana Lorenzo Cárdenes, coordinator of the Economic Benefits Department of Fraternidad Muprespa, on law 2/2025, on adaptation to the job after a permanent disability.
