Fraternidad-Muprespa celebrates the “Give way to safe driving” day in Murcia
The headquarters ofOccupational Health and Safety Institute of the Region of MurciaOn November 17th, the event was held “Give way to safe driving”, a quote that is framed within the V Work Road Safety Week organized by the Mutua, coinciding with the celebration of the World Day of Remembrance for Victims of Traffic Accidents, on Sunday, November 20.
Maria Angeles Villanueva, head of the Occupational Health and Safety Institute of the Region of Murcia, was in charge of opening the day, highlighting the importance of preventing accidents in itinere, those that occur on the way, both when going to work and when returning after the day, since they account for more than half of work accidents, and publicizing the initiatives that they are working on together with the DGT and that will see the light of day in 2023.
Virginia Jerez, Provincial Head of Traffic of the DGT of Murcia, offered data on the Road Safety Strategy 2030, which since 2009 has marked the work in favor of road safety in the last decade. Among the objectives achieved through this strategy, it was highlighted that between 2009 and 2019 there was a 37% reduction in deaths per million inhabitants, a 35% reduction in serious injuries in accidents and a 25% reduction in young drivers (18-24 years old) in deaths and serious injuries on weekends.
On the part of AESLEME(Association for the study of Spinal Cord Injury) its provincial representative has intervened, Juan Eulalio Martínez, which offered testimony of the suffering caused by road accidents, both for the victims and their family environment.
Jesus Lopez, consultant Occupational Risk Prevention by Fraternidad-Muprespa, presented the Mutual data in accident rate work road traffic in Murcia from 2019 to 2022, highlighting that almost two out of every three accidents, 64%, are in itinere while 36% are on mission, that is, during the course of the day.
So far in 2022, those injured are both men (57%) and women (43%), and 58% of those who have had an accident are between 25 and 44 years old. The sectors of activity to which these workers with the most accidents belong are agriculture, retail trade and the goods transport sector.
Alejandro López-Briones, provincial director of the Mutua in Murcia, closed the day by summarizing the most salient points, inviting participants to practice driving with immersive virtual reality equipment, which simulates the difficulties that arise for the driver when adverse situations occur.

This is an event organized by the Mutual Fund on an annual basis with the aim of raising awareness among mutual companies in order to reduce accident rate work road, coinciding with the celebration of the World Day of Remembrance for Victims of Traffic Accidents.
