The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
What are the SDGs?
In September 2015, all members of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a global action plan. In it, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals were proposed, which included 169 goals for their achievement. The objectives balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: social, environmental and economic.
What do they represent?
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) represent basic principles to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are all aimed at focusing efforts to achieve positive changes for the benefit of people and the planet.
Duration
They were created at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, held in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 to create a set of global goals related to the environmental, political and economic challenges facing our world.
The United Nations General Assembly adopted them at its meeting in 2015. They were finally launched in January of 2016 and guide policies and financing from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Fraternidad-Muprespa contribution to the SDGs

They must serve as a guide to help build a better future for all, while meeting the objective of guaranteeing our sustainability.
Our objective is to collaborate with 11 SDGs of the 17 that exist, which due to their goals have a more direct relationship with the activity we carry out at Mutua, which pursue equality between people, their health and well-being, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
Objective 3. Health and Well-being.
- Excellent healthcare for our clients is one of our basic principles of action.
- We promote healthy habits among the workers of our associated companies, providing them with the necessary resources and tools through the healthy itinerary “ Walking towards well-being ”.
- On our web portal “ The health corner” Through publications and news we promote healthy environments.
- We carry out informative actions that you can find in our prevention portal Previene.
- We help our companies become certified as healthy companies.

- In Fraternidad-Muprespa the year was celebrated “Somos Saludables” to improve and strengthen the healthy living philosophy of the Mutua's workers at work and personally.
- An area of clinical psychology has been incorporated into our Own Prevention Service in order to address the needs of our employees in the work and personal fields from within the organization.
Objective 4. Quality Education
- The Mutua has signed c collaboration agreements with educational entities: schools and universities to provide training and collaborate in quality education.
- Corporate University, UNICO .
- Digital evolution: we seek to generate differential proposals, new services and personalized digital and useful products. Our duty is to offer such a level of digitalization, so that electronic means are the preferred means of relationship with the Mutual Fund, in an intuitive and easy way.
Objective 5. Gender Equality

In the renewal we have expressed our commitment to SDG 3 Health and Wellbeing . Every year we present the Global Compact Report, which reflects what is established in the Annual Report and Sustainability Report.
- III Equality Plan 2018-2020 whose validity was extended during 2021 while the IV plan is being negotiated. This includes actions beyond legal obligations to guarantee the principle of effective equality between men and women.
- Since 2016 we have had the Equality Badge in the Company , mark of excellence awarded by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality to entities that They stand out for the implementation of equality measures or plans in the development of equal opportunity policies between women and men in the workplace. (RED DIE).
- In 2016 we joined the “ program More women, better companies ”, of the Institute for Women and Equal Opportunities to increase the presence of women in management positions in 4 years until reaching a balance of representation at said levels.
- Together with SDG 17, the Project is born. INGEPRE , integration of the gender perspective in the field of safety and occupational health of female workers and the search for the continuous decrease in the accidents occupational accidents.
- In 2021 we have renewed the Quality Excellence Asturian Brand rewards active participation in the policy to promote equal opportunities between women and men.
Objective 7. Affordable and non-polluting energy
- Use of green energy.
- Installation of solar and photovoltaic energy modules.
- Preparation and implementation of a Reduction Plan, with energy efficiency measures.
- Use of autotransformers to reduce the consumption of active and reactive electricity.
- Installation of telemetry and telemanagement to reduce electricity consumption, along with a lighting protocol, according to hours of sunshine and use.
- Acquisition of an electric car and another hybrid, and installation of infrastructure (charging points) for the use of electric vehicles.
- Selection of efficient and bioclimatic construction criteria when designing new infrastructures or modifying existing ones.
- Use of light sensors in areas with natural light in various centers.
- Progressive change of conventional luminaires with LED lighting.
- Acquisition of 52 multifunction devices with ENERGY STAR labeling.
- Hospital from an environmental point of view.
Goal 8. Decent work and economic growth
- The main objective of Fraternidad-Muprespa in relation to responsible labor practices is to contribute to the creation and maintenance of quality employment, improve the conditions of equal opportunities, integration of people with disabilities in the work environment; in addition to carrying out actions aimed at Society that promote the promotion of employment.
- We research, develop and innovate in the reduction of professional contingencies .
- We control and monitor the common contingency .
- We advise on the preparation of investigation reports on workplace accidents.
- We guide in the coordination of business activities.
- We spread Prevention10 : we raise awareness about occupational risks.
- We advise SMEs on job adaptation.
- We help disseminate and implement Vision Zero .
- We have a specialized Web portal health culture.
- We celebrate the Prevention Week .
Objective 9. Industry, Innovation and infrastructure
- At Fraternidad-Muprespa we are committed to research and development to offer patients quality and effective healthcare with the use of the most modern techniques, which allow for less invasive and traumatic treatment, improving and reducing recovery time.
- Every year, in our Escolástico Zaldívar awards 2804 we recognize our associated companies highly committed to the Prevention of Occupational Risks , that demonstrate having executed or be carrying out preventive actions that represent an improvement and innovation in the safety, health and well-being of its workers, beyond mere compliance with prevention regulations.
- In 2019, the Hospital LEED certification Platinum . And obtaining the AIS (Accessibility Indicator System) certificate with five stars , which is the highest category of this international standard that certifies the degree of accessibility.
- In the rest of the Mutua facilities, the selection of efficient and bioclimatic construction criteria is sought when designing new infrastructures or modifying existing ones and we have 90 care centers audited, 8 of them having the highest AIS certification score.
Objective 10. Reduction of inequalities
At Fraternidad-Muprespa there is a diversity management and work-life balance policy, which guarantees full equal treatment of all people, with special emphasis on people with disabilities.
In 2021 we have renewed the Diversity Charter with which we assume, among others, the principles of raising awareness about equal opportunities, advancing in the construction of a diverse workforce and promoting the inclusion of all people.
Fraternidad-Muprespa joined the INSERTA Program of the ONCE Foundation in 2017 with the aim of promoting the employment of people with disabilities through different actions .
Objective 12. Responsible production and consumption
- At Fraternidad-Muprespa we have a Purchasing Policy where we express our essential purchasing values based on sustainability, quality and defense of the environment.
- In all public tender procedures we demand a series of demanding requirements related to aspects of sustainability, efficiency and energy savings.
- We strive for energy savings and recycling in all Mutua centers.
- Our Quality Policy based on the UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015 Standard is aimed at achieving its main objective, which is to satisfy the expectations and needs of the clients of the Fraternidad-Muprespa Quality Management Systems. 13. Climate Action

- We have implemented and certified the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Disclosure of environmental communications to internal and external level (intranet, twitter, projection of posters in their centers and newsletters). We also have an Environmental Good Practices Guide that is available to all employees.
- We have verified our Carbon Footprint, ISO 14064:2006 and we have obtained the seal “CALCULATION + REDUCE”, granted by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, by managing to reduce our emissions by 75% in the last four years.
- Adhesion to the Circular Economy Pact and the Platform of Climate Action , thus showing the commitment to sustainability.
- We adhere to the first and second Manifesto For a sustainable economic recovery.
Objective 16. Peace, justice and strong institutions
- has its Code of Ethics and Conduct in which the values that the Entity is consolidated and is committed to maintaining with the different interest groups an ethical and responsible management of its activity, as well as the guidelines and conduct that the Mutual workers must carry out.
- La Mutua has joined the Digital Pact for the protection of people, promoted by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), which values privacy as an asset for public and private organizations. As well as the defense of people from attacks of digital violence through the #prioritychannel.
Objective 17. Alliances to achieve the objectives
- We encourage and promote agreements with institutions to create a sphere of collaboration between the signatory entities.
- Improve alliances with institutions in our field to exchange knowledge and specialization with the ultimate goal of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.
