Fraternidad-Muprespa celebrates the “Give way to safe driving” day in Oviedo

Fraternidad-Muprespa___HTML TAG10______ held on November 17 in Oviedo the day on road safety “Give way to safe driving”, an event that is part of the V Workplace Road Safety Week organized by the Mutua, coinciding with the celebration of theWorld Day in Remembrance of the Victims of Traffic Accidents, on Sunday, November 20.

The day took place at the facilities of the Asturian Institute for the Prevention of Occupational Risks (IAPRL), and was attended by fifty people. Among the organizations attending were the IAPRL itself, the General Directorate of Traffic, ASPAYM, (Association of people with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities), Alas Iberia, Contratas Abamia, Correos, Carrefour, Eumedica Pharmaceuticals, Down Syndrome Association, Lila Asturias, Tragsa or Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Electrical.

Raquel Casado, Provincial Head of Traffic of Asturias, provided accident data from previous years. “The current data are similar to those obtained in 2019 and important changes in mobility and accident rates are beginning to be detected,” he highlighted.

Humberto Sáez, head of the IAPRL Training and Documentation Area, described the characteristics of the Asturian Safe Mobility Seal, as well as the success among multiple companies in the Asturian business fabric from different areas. He also explained the different steps to qualify for said seal, whose flexibility makes it adaptable to any type of organization regardless of its size or activity.

Gem González, secretary of ASPAYM Asturias, made an emotional message. intervention sharing their personal experience. At the age of 17, she suffered an accident that left her in a wheelchair.His communication skills and the strength of his testimony generated awareness among those present of the importance of road safety.

Ivan Fernández, prevention consultant for the Mutua, described in his speech the tools that Fraternidad-Muprespa make available to its associates to improve road safety awareness. To do this, he showed examples of immersive safety workshops, which promote improvements in driving habits and which are very well received. Likewise, the equipment was made available to attendees so that they could also test the drink-driving simulation glasses used in the workshops.

Finally, Maite Belver, Provincial Director of the Mutua in Asturias, closed the day by making a brief summary of all the speakers' interventions.

To this end, different events were scheduled this year: a national webinar that featured important expert speakers in different aspects of road safety, four face-to-face sessions, in A Coruña, Zaragoza, Asturias and Murcia, participation in conferences organized by the Regional Institutes for the Prevention of Occupational Risks in Jaén and Madrid as well as a Fratertalk with Bartolomé Vargas, who was the first Road Safety prosecutor of the State Attorney General's Office, as a guest expert.
