Fraternidad-Muprespa participates in Jaén in a conference on occupational road safety of the Junta de Andalucía
The Jaén Occupational Risk Prevention Center (CPRL) organized the conference “Road safety in the workplace: put distractions aside”, with the aim of advancing awareness and training to reduce traffic accidents in the workplace.
The territorial delegate of Employment, Business and Self-Employment,Ana Mata, opened the day together with the provincial head of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT),Juan Diego Ramirez, the director of Fraternidad-Muprespa in Jaén,Angel Gilabert, and the director of the CPRL,Juan Pedro Castillo.
The technical conference is part of the Shock Plan against Occupational Accidents in Andalusia, an initiative of the Department of Employment, Business and Self-Employment, aimed at addressing and reducing workplace accidents, in which Fraternidad-Muprespa actively collaborates.
Mata indicated that traffic accidents have become the main risk of work-related mortality. In 2022, 10.1% of work accidents in the province were traffic accidents. Of them, 33.2% were during a work day (on mission) and 66.8% 'in itinere', when going to or returning from work. He emphasized that "companies must implement safe and sustainable mobility plans" and clarified that "extraordinary sensitivity must be maintained, for example, not pushing with the times."
Ángel Gilabert, provincial director of He explained that in the last year in Jaén there were "1,048 fatal road accidents in which 1,145 people died and another 4,495 people suffered injuries that required hospitalization."
Juan Diego Ramírez described in his presentation “Together we all add up; Road Safety Strategy 2030”, how his organization intends to address improving the behavior and safety of users through training and road education.
Elena Cano, a Prevention consultant at
Fernando Canada, AESLEME delegate in Jaén, especially captured the attention of the public by talking about his experience after a road accident, and its personal, work and social consequences. He also conveyed the importance of continuing to invest in safety and prevention.
Juan Carlos Peinado, president of the Jaén Driving Schools Association, representing the CNAE Foundation, insisted “on the importance of individual and collective responsibility, of mandatory in-person training to avoid visual, cognitive and manual distractions while driving.”
Finally,Javier Manuel García Zafra, responsible for the Training, Information and Statistics Area of the CPRL of Jaén, moderated the final colloquium talk, in which the speakers resolved the situations raised by those attending the day.
