The UN has promulgated the motto of International Women's Day 2021: “Women leaders: for an equal future in the world of Covid-19”.

Women are playing an essential role on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic as healthcare workers, law enforcement, caregivers, innovators, and cleaners. And we also find among them national leaders, exemplary and effective in the fight against the pandemic.

This crisis has shown that women have once again reconciled work and personal life with the added complication of a confinement where family, work, school, universities and caring for our elders have coexisted in the same place, among many other tasks.

Fraternidad-Muprespa as a Mutual Collaborator with Social Security has been working on equality plans for years and we are already on the third. It seeks equal opportunities for the workforce to promote conciliation and co-responsibility for all, and maintain and increase prevention, action and protection actions against gender-based or sexual violence, in any area. Co-responsibility, the wage gap or the digital gender gap are also other objectives included in it.

I hope we stop celebrating this day, because that will mean that we will all have the same rights, and the battle that has been fought since March 8, 1857, the day in which a demonstration of thousands of textile workers was held in New York to demand improvements in their working conditions, will have been won.
