New Fraternidad-Muprespa center in A Coruña
Some history
Fraternidad-Muprespa has been present in A Coruña since 1981, with an office as its first center. Eight years later, in 1989, we began to offer health care when the healthcare center located at the bottom of Avenida del Ejercito No. 12 was inaugurated with almost 500 m 2 . In 2001 the center was expanded with the third floor of the same building, with another 533 m 2 more, leaving the ground floor exclusively for a care center with rehabilitation.
Objective of the new center
Now, this year 2022, we move to the Helios Tower, an emblematic building of the city, inaugurating a totally new center with an area of 1,375 m 2 . The design objectives and construction solutions that have been pursued and achieved thanks to the works of the new center have been four:
- Functionality.
- Efficiency.
- Accessibility.
- Digitization.
Functionality
The following functional needs have been resolved:
- Imaging diagnostic service, composed of:
- Magnetic resonance room.
- Digital radiology room.
- Large healthcare area, with:
- 7 consultations.
- 2 treatment rooms and 1 plaster room.
- 2 nursing areas.
- 2 waiting rooms.
- Rehabilitation-physiotherapy area capable of responding to the high demand in the area, which has been resolved with:
- 1 general room of 175 m 2 .
- 3 individual treatment boxes.
- 1 hydrotherapy area.
- Single admission area that would allow the two current ones to be unified.
- Administration area that allows personalized attention to mutual members.
- Training area with a room with capacity for 35 people.
Efficiency
Fraternidad-Muprespa is the green mutual, with all that this implies in terms of sustainability and commitment to the environment in our centers.
The new center has a maximum energy efficiency classification, CLASS A, both in non-renewable primary energy consumption and in carbon dioxide emissions.
The percentage of savings in energy demand compared to the reference building marked by the CTE regulations is 57.2%.
This has been obtained using:
- Air conditioning/ventilation with variable refrigerant volume system with enthalpic recovery.
- Air extraction integrated into the climate control.
- Dimmable LED lighting with DALI control.
- Automation and regulation of light level in common areas.
- Production of aerothermal DHW with recovery system.
- And, of course, with excellent insulation of the envelope.
The indoor air quality requirement is met for flow rates of 45 and 72 m 3 /h per person depending on areas, a very interesting aspect given the recommendations to minimize the transmission of the COVID 19 virus. In addition, we have sanitization modules in ventilation ducts with UV lamps and a photocatalytic structure of TiO2.
Accessibility
Accessibility requirements are ensured with strict compliance with the CTE Technical Building Code in its corresponding section, guaranteeing:
- Slipperiness, with different types of pavement depending on areas and uses.
- Discontinuity, requiring total flatness in the pavements and not allowing unprotected unevenness.
- With accessible indoor and outdoor routes.
- With accessible rooms and furniture with space reserves for people with reduced mobility.
- Signage with pictograms and inscription in Braille.
- Magnetic induction loops in information areas, waiting rooms, course rooms, etc.
- Tactile pavement for access routing, etc.
Digitization
The digitization of the center is completed with a telecommunications installation with two racks that serve 178 LAN network sockets, public address system, HDMI connections, which allow the most advanced digital services to be offered:
- Patient management system, with multimedia kiosks, signage screens in the waiting rooms.
- Digital clinical history, with integration of diagnostic imaging images in digital PACS, all accessible from the My Frater Patient mobile application, available for Apple (iOS) and Android devices.
- Digital integration with the Fraternidad-Muprespa Habana Hospital, a national reference center in Orthopedic and Traumatological Surgery, through teleconsultation and sharing of databases and communications networks.
- WiFi network available for patients, as well as healthcare professionals.
- Digital signage with information for center users.
Additionally, typing also allows improving aspects of use of the center's construction:
- Two-way communication in disabled toilets.
- Remote management of the air conditioning system.
- Capacity control with management of the flow of people into and out of the center, using cameras, allowing the available capacity to be known in real time.
Location
The new care center of
The distance to the center of Coruña is 4 km, approximately 7 minutes by car.
We have public parking, taxi rank and city bus.
The availability of these services and the location of the center will facilitate access for injured people to companies without entering the city center, since a part of the protected population has its work centers in nearby logistics platforms and industrial estates.
Characteristics of the center
Some construction aspects of the center are:
- Optimized design of the flows of patients and healthcare professionals, to facilitate the movement of people.
- A design condition has been to maximize natural light in all areas.
- The floors are adapted to their functionality, prioritizing aspects such as ease of cleaning, access to facilities, and the acoustics of open areas.
- All healthcare spaces, including medical consultations, have ventilation and natural light.
- The facilities have high efficiency, with remote management.
- The materials are highly durable, maintenance-free for the first 10 years.
Care activity
The care activity carried out in the Coruña center of Fraternidad-Muprespa may be increased in this new center.
Specifically, in 2021 the following actions were carried out:
- 14,000 consultations, of which 2,800 were emergency care, 6,200 for monitoring professional contingencies, and 5,000 for control and monitoring of common contingency processes.
- 1,300 diagnostic tests, to which will be added the magnetic resonance imaging performed with the new equipment.
- 10,400 rehabilitation sessions.
