José Rodríguez Pardo is a social graduate from the Social School of Valencia, a graduate in Labor Sciences from the International University of Catalonia and an International Expert in Industrial Relations from the University of Alcalá de Henares. He is about to retire and in this interview he tells us what his professional journey has been like since the beginning, and the most important keys to his day-to-day life.

Advises public and private companies on labor and Social Security matters at the professional office Rives y Lozano in Orihuela (Alicante).

From Fraternidad-Muprespa we thank you for the time you have collaborated with us and we wish you a happy retirement.

You have been a collaborator of How has the treatment been with us during these years? And with the other mutuals? What advice would you give to a consultancy that has just started?

The deal with Fraternidad-Muprespa has been excellent. The other mutual insurance companies have also treated me well. Once the time has come for my retirement I will have moments of reflection so that, in light of this, I can transmit advice based on my professional experience, but now I would highlight the vocation, professional ethics and appropriate treatment with clients, without forgetting our professional emblem, social justice.

The Advisor's Corner is a tool integrated into the Mutual Fund's Digital Office, can you tell us about the advantages that this tool brings to your advice?

Training and information help, without a doubt, when carrying out professional work. In my office this tool is very useful.

Would the Discussion Forum be a tool that you would use if you wanted to share a specific topic with other advisors?

YES, being able to know the opinion of other colleagues on similar issues helps to find correct solutions. It has always been said that “four eyes see more than two”.

We are faced with a very recent labor reform, what has this radical change in the types of labor contracts meant for the group? Do you think that the labor reform is appropriate and was necessary?

Although Labor Law is exciting due to its constant changes, every time a new rule or reform is published it represents a small trauma for us, since we have to interpret and study the new Law and evaluate different criteria.

In my opinion the labor reform is not appropriate and was not necessary at this time. It would be good to consult with the professional associations so that they could give their opinion.

Do you think that the drop in unemployment that we currently have is a consequence of the labor reform?

No, whenever a current situation ends, as has happened with the COVID pandemic, work activity increases due to the return to normality. In such a situation the demand for employment always increases.

What is the service that your clients demand the most?

Ongoing advice on labor matters and Social Security.

Tell us when and why you chose a liberal profession. What do you remember from the beginnings of your business adventure? What is the biggest challenge an advisor can face?

By vocation. Social graduates try to solve the social problems of our clients.Anything that involves helping others is always a source of satisfaction.

I began my professional adventure with enthusiasm and desire, but the beginnings are never easy, I have tried to be dynamic and optimistic. I have to admit that the luck factor has always been with me.

The biggest challenge that social graduates face is to act as a bridge between companies and workers and be able to resolve conflicts and problems that arise between the parties.

During your professional career you have held different positions on the Governing Board of the Official College of Social Graduates of Alicante. How has your experience been combining your duties in consultancy and also your relations with the College?

In order to combine my work with the office and the tasks of the Governing Board, I have had to give up part of the time that we all dedicate to leisure.

I have been a member for 4 years, general secretary for 12 years and vice president for 18 years. We all know that these functions are carried out altruistically, but I feel privileged to have experienced first-hand all the achievements that have been achieved. I would like to highlight our inclusion in the Organic Law of the Judiciary, the use of the robe and intervention on the bench, the technical representation in labor and Social Security processes, and the signing of the appeal. All of this empowers us to be able to do judicial work like the rest of the legal operators.

You have received several awards from the Official College of Social Graduates of Spain and Alicante, how do you feel when receiving these recognitions?

Everything that comes from the College of Social Graduates I receive with gratitude, with great enthusiasm and pride, but the most important award I have received is the FRIENDSHIP of all the colleagues I have met as a member of the Governing Board.
