Conference on the effects of noise on the health of working people

Reseña de jornada

The Aragonese Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (ISSLA) hosted last Tuesday the 28th a conference on noise and the effects it can have on workers, detailing the regulations that govern it, its effects, how it is measured and the preventive measures in this regard, a conference that had extensive participation by Fraternidad-Muprespa.

Antonio Barrachina, director of ISSLA, was the first to speak to indicate that in 2022 in Aragon three hearing loss processes were declared (two in industry and one in the services sector), all without causing sick leave and all in men. The figures improve those of the previous year.

Next Elena Cano, Rafael Reyes and José Luis Fernández, prevention consultants for Fraternidad-Muprespa a dialogue and dynamic exhibition in which noise was treated from a double perspective: that of intra-auditory damage (caused by exposures greater than 80 dBA, with harmful consequences for hearing) and extra-auditory damage (caused by lower levels that, although they do not cause damage to the ear, cause other types of damage to health that must be evaluated with ergonomic methodology).

The three consultants described the nature of the sounds, the consequences of noise on the body, the regulations that affect it and how to carry out its proper management through practical cases. State-of-the-art hearing protection equipment provided by the company 3M was also shown.

Lorén Alloza, manager of the company Silent Tecnology, a specialist in acoustic engineering, explained the fundamentals of insulation and showed real examples. Antonio Barrachina closed the event again, thanking the collaboration of the speakers who, for more than two hours, brought the details of this case to the audience.
