Fraternidad-Muprespa participates in a J. Andalucía workshop on occupational road safety in Cádiz

The Occupational Risk Prevention Center of Cádiz organized this event, which included representatives from AESLEME, DGT, Fundación CNAE, Cádiz Association of Driving Schools Bahía de Cádiz and in which the director Provincial in Cádiz, Miguel, represented the Mutua Ysasi, and Luis Ángel Merlo, prevention consultant

This event, presented by Águeda Lahera, director of the Occupational Risk Prevention Center of Cádiz, is part of the Shock Plan against Occupational Accidents in Andalusia, an initiative of the Ministry of Employment, Business and Labor Autonomous, aimed at addressing and reducing workplace accidents.

The central theme was the growing concern about work-related traffic accidents, both "in itinere" (during the commute) and "en mission" (during the work day). These accidents have become the main cause of work-related mortality, so immediate and effective action is necessary within the framework of the Shock Plan.

The territorial delegate of Employment, Business and Self-Employment of the Board in Cádiz, Daniel Sánchez, exprthat “with this type of conference the Board reaffirms its commitment to reducing workplace accidents, specifically those related to traffic accidents. The objective is to raise awareness among workers and companies about the applicable road safety measures and good practices that directly affect the safety and health of workers.”

Miguel Ysasi, diprovincial rector of Fraternidad-Muprespa in Cádiz, reported that, with regard to mutual companies in the province, during the period 2021-2023, there have been 743 road accidents, which have involved more than 39,000 days of sick leave, translated into an estimated cost of temporary disability of more than 1.5 million euros.

Ana Cobos, Provincial Head of the DGT of Cádiz, described in her presentation "Together we add life. Road safety strategy 2030”, the objective of reducing deaths due to traffic accidents by 50% compared to 2019 and also reducing serious injuries by half through road training.

Alejandro García, AESLEME delegate in Cádiz, especially captured the attention of the public by speaking in first person about the dire consequences of traffic accidents and detailing the educational, awareness and preventive mission of his organization.

Finally, Claudio Blanco, President of the Cádiz Association of Bahía de Cádiz Driving Schools, insisted on the importance of in-person theoretical training to obtain the license being mandatory, as in most of Europe.

During the day, it was highlighted that the human factor is the main cause of work accidents related to mobility.Although driving is an everyday activity, poor practices and overconfidence can significantly increase the risks when operating vehicles. To mitigate these risks, the development of measures related to driver awareness and strict application of the General Traffic Regulations was suggested. In addition, the importance of implementing safe and sustainable mobility plans in companies was emphasized
