The meeting took place on October 22, organized by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health of Galicia (ISSGA) in online format within the European Week for safety and health at work.

Alberto Conde, head of the ISSGA Technical and Planning Service, was in charge of presenting and moderating the day, the opening of which was carried out by Pablo Fernández, secretary general of Employment and Labor Relations of the Department of Employment, Commerce and Emigration, who highlighted the topicality of the topic to be discussed. He also detailed that the Xunta de Galicia is implementing new measures “especially in the field of teleworking” to address the problems raised by the use of new technologies. They do this by providing training sessions for its control and prevention. He also spoke about the high level of absenteeism in the Galician Community and the importance of digital disconnection as a factor to reduce it.

The webinar began immediately in which three Fraternidad-Muprespa prevention consultants participated: Iván Fernández, from the Provincial Directorate of Asturias, and Fernando Corres, from Álava.

Fernando Corres described the emerging risks derived from the information and communication society, as "those about which there is not much knowledge or information and that can have a high impact; they are new or changing and although their probability of occurrence is low, they can materialize at any time and negatively impact people or organizations."

Emerging risks are unpredictable, even if they are known, it is not known exactly when and where they will occur, nor their nature. magnitude.

Fernández, for his part, described the 'burnout syndrome' as a "situation of imbalance in which stress has been maintained for so long that it ends up causing a depletion of resources." As an eloquent example, he stated that "it is like that athlete who makes a specific overexertion and may have an injury that is usually minor. That would be stress, something that is solved with a vacation. But the burnout syndrome is that athlete who plans the entire season with an excessive work overload and who ends up with a serious injury that may require medical or surgical treatment. He no longer recovers with rest because there is a very large mismatch between demands and capabilities."
