September 8: World Physiotherapy Day, the key to maintaining and recovering health
World Physiotherapy Day is celebrated every September 8 and is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of this discipline in the health and well-being of people, a profession focused on the treatment of diseases and injuries through physical techniques and manual therapies, in close collaboration with the doctor.
The main objective of physiotherapy is the recovery of patients, promoting their mobility, functionality and autonomy, for their reintegration into their usual life. Helping them is the first step to overcome musculoskeletal and neurological disorders and other health problems.
The next step would be physiotherapy as a key piece in the prevention of diseases and the promotion of healthy lifestyles, being able to adapt its treatments to the specific needs of each patient.
And physiotherapy is one of the axes of comprehensive health care. Although doctors are essential for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, physical therapists complement this process by providing specialized care to improve the physical function and quality of life of patients.
It is also a discipline in constant evolution and development. Physical therapists are committed to staying current on scientific and technological advances, and using new techniques and therapies to provide quality care to patients.

“This date is also an excellent opportunity to thank and recognize the work of physiotherapists, who dedicate their time and effort to helping people overcome their physical difficulties and improve their well-being,” explains Dr. José Ignacio Mora, director of the IT Care Coordination and Control Center of Fraternidad-Muprespa.
For Dr. Mora, the day being held today is “optimal to raise awareness in society about the importance of this discipline and highlight the need to have trained physiotherapists accessible to everyone.” “All of us,” he adds, “can benefit from physical therapy at some point in our lives, whether to recover from an injury, improve our mobility or simply stay in shape,” he concludes.
