The exhibition “Prevention Posters of the 20th Century” arrives in Vigo
After having traveled more than 26,000 kilometers through various Spanish cities, the exhibition “Prevention Posters of the 20th Century” arrives in Vigo until October 29. Fraternidad-Muprespa and the AXA Foundation, organizers of the exhibition together with the Círculo de Empresarios, thus continue their work of disseminating preventive culture and the evolution of occupational risk prevention.
Maite Torres Rivera, member of the Vocal Board of Directors of the Círculo de Empresarios de Galicia, opened the session to highlight the importance of hosting such an exhibition and in this way “add to all the activities we carry out, cultural and artistic activities, something that enriches the Circle.”
Next Ainara Ruiz de Gauna, Western territorial director of AXA, intervened on behalf of the AXA Foundation to highlight that "in 2020, 720 people died in a work accident, despite the collapse of activity due to the pandemic. Every day in Spain, more than two people die in a work accident. I would like the exhibition to provoke a reflection on the great social and human problem that workplace accidents entail.”
Subsequently, the deputy general director of Prevention, Quality and Communication of Fraternidad-Muprespa, Natalia Fdez. "Fraternidad-Muprespa shares with employers and administration the importance of preventing work accidents and occupational diseases, as well as reducing work absenteeism. Everything we can do to avoid this will be good for society, which is why since 2016 we have taken this exhibition throughout Spain, adding a total of 30 locations, in order to bring the prevention of occupational risks to the streets."
Elena Mancha, general director of Labor Relations of the Xunta de Galicia, opted in her speech to reinforce the measures aimed at raising awareness about the importance of “culture and preventive responsibility” to reduce accidents at work. “As a preventionist that I consider myself to be, I have always given fundamental importance to the value of preventive culture, which must emanate from the top down in the pyramid of business responsibilities.”
Finally, the Social Welfare councilor of the Vigo council, Yolanda Aguiar, reviewed how the pandemic forced professionals to turn to adapt jobs in unprecedented conditions. “I hope that many people come to visit this exhibition because a reflection that we have already begun during the pandemic will emerge around it, that of reinventing ourselves, a work that must continue.”
After the turn of interventions, Antonio José Millán, director of the AXA Chair of Prevention, took a tour of the exhibition explaining to the attendees the characteristics of the posters on display.
Although the exhibition has been traveling through different Spanish cities since 2016, Vigo is the third stop, after Santander and Granada, of the exhibition of “Prevention Posters of the 20th Century” under the collaboration agreement signed by Fraternidad-Muprespa and the AXA Foundation in order to disseminate occupational risk prevention.
Attendees will learn through this retrospective of 48 reproductions how occupational risk prevention was disseminated in the last century. Also on this occasion, five other posters can be seen at the headquarters of the General Treasury of Social Security in Vigo.
The sample belongs to the La Retrografia collection, focused on the topic of safety at work, prevention and occupational health. On each poster, a free audio guide is made available to the visitor that allows, using a QR code, to listen to an explanation about each work via mobile phone, helping to contextualize both each artistic work and the entire exhibition.
This traveling exhibition has already traveled more than 26,000 kilometers in Spain. It has been possible to visit 30 locations in 19 provinces. After the forced break due to the pandemic, it was possible to visit in Santander and Granada and in this new stage the exhibition will visit Murcia, Toledo, Oviedo, Valencia, Alicante, Tarragona, Burgos and Málaga.
