The Museum of the Arms Industry of Eibar hosts the exhibition “Prevention Posters of the 20th Century”

The Guipuzcoan town of É ibar is the new location where the Exhibition “Prevention Posters of the 20th Century” is installed, organized by

Marina Barrena,director of the Museum of the Arms Industry of Éibar welcomed the event and gave the floor to Silvia Vela, director of Communication and Institutional Relations of Social, it is the dissemination of preventive culture”, precisely to be able to avoid personal and economic damage to companies.

Lourdes Iscar, director of OSALAN, pointed out that for the institution she directs it is “a pride to be present at the event because, although accidents continue to exist, we have to be positive about their evolution.” He also highlighted the importance of the preventive role of the institutions and recalled that Osalan turns thirty years old in 2023, “it was created before the Occupational Risk Prevention Law, and we continue to evolve in the care, safety and health of workers," he stated. Íscar highlighted that the exhibition contains posters focused on the prevention of psychosocial risks, "something that is the focus of the ORP debate today."

Finally, he recalled that the Basque Health and Safety Strategy at Work 2021-2026 has as one of its main objectives “to reach the population and for the population to demand safe working conditions.”

Ion Iraola, mayor of Éibar, thanked Fraternidad-Muprespa for having installed this traveling exhibition in the town of which he is councilor. “I can't think of a better place than the Museum of the Arms Industry to install this exhibition, which fuses art with the message of safety.”

"Risk prevention is, today, something that companies and workers take very seriously, there is more and more awareness about it, although unfortunately there are still accidents and therefore prevention work is still very necessary," he said, adding that "the exhibition combines what has been done in the 20th century, from the point of view of prevention, something very different from what is done now."

After the interventions,Antonio José Millán, He toured the exhibition, explaining to the attendees the most notable characteristics of the posters. 

 

This is the exhibition of Prevention Posters of the 20th century

This is the fourth time that the exhibition can be visited in Euskadi and many of the posters that make up it are specifically related to the prevention of occupational risks in industries that proliferated in this territory in the 20th century. At the beginning of 2019, the exhibition was installed at the Bilbao Railway station on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Mutua and as a tribute to the city in which Escolástico Zaldívar founded La Fraternidad. That same year, in the month of October, the exhibition could be seen at the Barakaldo Integral Steel Workers Foundation, where it returned in November 2020. Now it is installed for almost the entire month of May in É go

The exhibition, which has been seen in 37 locations in 23 provinces, has covered 30,000 kilometers and has an audience of around ten million people.Belonging to the La Retrografia collection , focused on the theme ofsafety at work, prevention and occupational health, each poster that is part of the exhibition, makes a free audio guide available to the visitor using a QR code, to better understand each work and contextualize the exhibition. After being seen in Santander, Vigo, Granada, Murcia, Valencia and León, their next stops will be Oviedo and Pamplona.
