Every October 29, the world comes together to make visible one of the most devastating and frequent neurological diseases: stroke. In this context, Fraternidad-Muprespa reaffirms its commitment to public health and preventive culture through its collaboration agreement with the Stroke Brake Association, in force since 2018.

This strategic alliance aims to raise awareness among the population about the importance of early detection, immediate action and, above all, active prevention against stroke.

Stroke affects more than 120,000 people in Spain every year. According to data from the Stroke Strategy of the National Health System, updated in 2024, it is the second cause of death in the country and the first among women. In addition, it represents the first cause of acquired disability in adults and the second of dementia.

It is estimated that one in six people will suffer a stroke throughout their life, and although its incidence increases with age, it can also occur in young people and children. Of those who suffer from it, around 30% die and 40% will suffer lifelong consequences. By 2035, stroke cases will have increased by 35% in our environment.

Faced with this reality, prevention becomes an essential tool. Adopting healthy habits, a balanced diet, doing regular physical exercise, avoiding tobacco and alcohol consumption, and taking care of your mental health can significantly reduce the risk of suffering a stroke.

Awareness of the warning symptoms, such as loss of strength in the face or limbs, difficulty speaking or understanding, and alterations in vision, is also key to early medical care that minimizes sequelae.

The agreement between Fraternidad-Muprespa and Freno al Ictus is framed in this preventive vision. Both entities work to ensure that knowledge about stroke reaches all groups, in order to reduce the social impact of the disease and promote a culture of care that prioritizes brain health.

On World Stroke Day, Fraternidad-Muprespa renews its commitment to prevention, rigorous information and joint action. Because behind every piece of information there is a life, and behind every life, an opportunity to act in time.
