Director of the Care Coordination and IT Control department Mutua Fraternidad-Muprespa

FM: Director of the Care Coordination and IT Control department. Could you briefly explain the objectives of the department and how they are structured within the FM network.

J.I.M.: The department was born in February 2011 with the organizational instruction of Fraternidad Muprespa 1/50. The objectives of the department are clearly defined therein. The fundamental concept is to serve as support to the health service, and in general to the NETWORK, in the management of temporary disability, both in common and professional contingencies, as well as to provide a solution to any need that may arise in this regard in all areas: homogenization of criteria and implementation of the same, information on these criteria, adaptation of the tools that we have, especially computer tools; It basically consists of seeking the best care for our patients, which as an organization whose mission includes treating people, is our main objective as a department. I also do not want to forget our collaboration on two issues of relevance to the organization: obtaining adequate quality standards and the basic contribution of the central hospital in our Mutual Fund. To achieve all this, the existence of the territorial care coordinator is key. Figure that has been fully integrated into the organization, in its broadest sense. I must mention that my origins at Mutua, in 2001, began in the IT control unit in Madrid, which could perfectly be considered the embryo of the figure of the territorial care coordinator. Finally, close collaboration both at the central level and with the NETWORK is essential to achieve these objectives.

FM: From the perspective of the PEC, could you tell us how these objectives are structured and what their achievements represent for the organization?

J.I.M.: My opinion on this point as far as my department is concerned is clear. We were born with the PEC and we have internalized the objectives included in it in our operation. The operational objectives in which my department is framed are aimed at achieving the objective of treating the patient in the most appropriate way possible, similar throughout the organization, taking into account the available resources and trying to make it as efficient as possible. We cannot forget that our healthcare activity gives rise to a series of economic benefits, and Temporary Disability is the direct responsibility of the doctor, especially in the case of professional contingencies. Times of crisis force us to be imaginative with little money. Along these lines, we are developing a series of activities aimed at achieving the most efficient management possible, without losing sight of the quality of care for our patients.

FM: What is the differentiating mark of FM compared to the rest of the mutual insurance companies?

J.I.M.: From my point of view, our differentiating seal is the direct treatment we give to our clients (patients, companies, colleagues, etc.) and clearly conveying our activity, informing about our management in a transparent way, giving our patients everything that is necessary for their cure or stabilization of their after-effects within the framework of current legislation. I think that the human capital that Fraternidad Muprespa has is transcendental, both from a health point of view and on a general level. I consider that the high quality of this capital is basic for the Fraternidad Muprespa seal. From an economic point of view, I believe that, without reducing and even improving how we treat our patients who are entitled to both our health and economic benefits, we are obtaining more than reasonable economic results. Fraternidad Muprespa has historically always opted to have the best professionals, both its own and contracted, and to be at the forefront of the most advanced and effective diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.

FM: Could you tell us in general terms the improvements that your department brings to FM management in its global vision and in its relationship with external agents.

J.I.M.: I believe that what the department improves, together with all the departments that are included in the General Subdirectorate of Management, is the homogenization of the organization's management procedures, their implementation, their adaptation to the day-to-day life of the organization, transferring these criteria in a clear and concise way to the different external agents, and creating the necessary communication channels to resolve the incidents that arise and the improvements that can be made. We must manage as best as possible, without ever forgetting the margin that current legislation gives us, to give our patients, companies and members the best possible service, a fact that should differentiate us from other Mutual Insurance Companies.
Through the territorial assistance coordinators we have approached both our external and internal agents. It is a two-way path of knowledge and information that achieves great quality with maximum efficiency.

FM: How do you see FM developing in the future?

J.I.M.: I believe that with the revitalization of the Organization through the Strategic Plan, without forgetting the benefits of the work historically carried out by achieve it, both human and technological. My perception is that if we treat the patient with the highest quality, and not only from a health point of view, the results will come, and will allow us to develop within the legal field in which we operate, or will operate. This way of acting must provide tools to convey the validity of our organization, and for companies and affiliates to see being within Fraternidad Muprespa as a benefit.
