For the second time since its journey began in 2016, Ciudad Real hosts the Exhibition “Prevention Posters of the 20th Century”, organized by Fraternidad-Muprespa and the AXA Foundation. If in the month of May 2019 the Exhibition could be visited at the capital's railway station, it has now been installed in the lobby of the auditorium of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, where it can be visited until the next 28th.

Representatives of both Fraternidad-Muprespa and the AXA Foundation, the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha and the University.

The rector of the University, Julián Garde, was in charge of opening the institutional event, highlighting the importance of the exhibition being able to be visited by both members of the academic community and by citizens in general to “become aware of the importance of preventing occupational risks with these posters of the century XX but with a validity that corresponds to the 21st century.”

Fernando Callejas, dean of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, He highlighted the value of the graphic journey of these posters, which span from 1905 to 1970, focused “first on the protection of oneself, of the worker, and later advancing to the Occupational Risk Prevention Law.”

Later he gave the floor to Antonio Baylos, professor of Labor and Social Security Law at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, who stated that although the posters represent an interesting stage, it is already surpassed by the paradigm shift of the year 1978, when the employer was considered “a debtor of security because it is already a right of workers and workers already included in the Constitution, although the problem of occupational accidents and occupational diseases continues to exist,” as he stated.

Natalia Fdez. Deputy General Director of Prevention, Quality and Communication of “During the last century and currently, although they are different and distant times, the drama of the workplace accident remains the same and many of the accidents are similar.” He also stated that the sample allows us to analyze “a journey of occupational risk prevention, the knowledge of which is essential to draw conclusions about how the messages were focused on citizens.”

On behalf of the AXA Foundation, its manager, María José Ballestero, intervened, emphasizing that the exhibition is “a very important link in the historical trajectory aimed at preventing occupational risks, but we cannot be complacent because in 2020, 780 people died due to a work accident and according to provisional data, last year, 705, and many of these deaths could have been avoided with protective measures.”

The turn of interventions closed Agustín Espinosa, provincial delegate of Economy, Business and Employment of the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha, who highlighted the “importance of knowing the risks emerging as the economy and companies evolve, as well as the choice of the sample setting, an environment linked to law and labor relations.” Finally, he wanted to add an important message today, that of social dialogue, "something that the Government of Castilla-La Mancha places emphasis on to reduce deaths and accidents."

After the turn of interventions, Antonio José Millán, director of the AXA Prevention Chair, took a tour of the exhibition explaining to the attendees the characteristics of the posters on display.
