Fraternidad-Muprespa participates in a SUMMA 112 conference on Occupational Road Accidents

David Revillo, prevention consultant at of the VI Work Road Safety Week of Fraternidad-Muprespa, between November 13 and 21.

Revillo described in his presentation the Preventive activity of the Mutual Insurance Companies, focused on the reduction of workplace accidents in associated companies, according to the Social Security Preventive Activities Plan.

Part of this preventive activity is aimed at combating road accidents. Among the mutualists of Fraternidad-Muprespa, the accident rate has increased since the pandemic, after which both accidents and mortality among them increased. 'In itinere' accidents account for almost 70% of total accidents. The highest accident rate occurs in men between 35 and 49 years old who mainly travel by car.

Between 80% and 90% of road accidents are attributed to the human factor, which is why it is considered key to focus on people, with different advisory and awareness actions. At Fraternidad-Muprespa some of these actions are the occupational road safety workshops with immersive virtual reality. In total, more than 800 workshops have been held and 6,700 attendees. Also the Workplace Road Safety Week, coinciding with the World Day of Remembrance for Traffic Accident Victims (third Sunday of the month of November).

In addition, the web portal Previene specific resources on road safety are included, such as news, articles, infographics, guides and videos linked to the Mutua's social networks, and the Escolático Zaldívar Awards reward good practices in safety and health, including road safety. 

“Traffic risk affects all people in the workplace. From the moment we leave home, our day as a driver or pedestrian begins. Each company has to analyze its specific mobility depending on the position, evaluate the risk and propose measures,” he concluded.
