Fraternidad-Muprespa, Mutual Collaborator with Social Security No. 275, participated on Monday, November 18, in the conference organized by the General Council of Social Graduate Colleges of Spain with the title: “Artificial Intelligence and its application to all types of companies”.

Held online and before a capacity of close to five hundred attendees, mostly social graduates, the day was presented by the president of the Council, Joaquín Merchán Bermejo, who thanked the Mutua for its participation and commitment to the more than 17,000 social graduates from all over Spain, and to them for their attendance and interest in the day, emphasizing the interest that this topic arouses today and then introducing the speaker of the same.

Pedro Serrera Cobos, Deputy Director General of Information Systems and Services, explained to the attendees the concept of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), reviewing the main historical milestones that marked a before and after of this technology, to then explain some aspects little known to the general public such as what AI knows, what it does not know, and what it can learn, illustrating the attendees with practical examples.

Next it has analyzed some of the risks derived from the use of AI, such as the violation of privacy, doubts about intellectual property or fakes, and has reviewed the European legislation currently in force, Regulation (EU) 2024/1698 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of June 13, 2024, which establishes harmonized standards on AI, focusing on the classification of the different AI systems (prohibited, high risk, systemic risk, standard and free) and the effects on the protection of workers' rights, which may be expanded in national legislation or in the respective collective agreements.

Thus, the prohibited AI systems would be those used to infer the emotions of workers in the workplace, and the high-risk ones would be those used for personnel selection, promotion, dismissal and evaluation of work performance. To conclude his presentation, Serrera made some predictions about the future use of this technology.

The day closed Natalia Fernández Laviada, sdeputy General Director of Prevention, Quality and Communication of the Mutua, who thanked the speaker for the clarity of his presentation and the Council and its President for the trust placed in the Mutua, remembering our full availability to continue participating in future sessions.
