“Discovering everything about senior entrepreneurship” was the title of the conference organized this Wednesday in Madrid by 50PRO&GBO and which included the participation of Fraternidad-Muprespa, represented by Natalia Fernández Communication. The event brought together experts from different fields to lead senior professional entrepreneurs to be drivers of their own project and provide them with tools with which to face the challenges of a new stage in life professional.

With a presentation titled “The unemployed syndrome”, Fdez. Laviada began by exposing various data focused on age and working life. Spain is the second country in terms of longevity of its population, only behind Japan. Life expectancy for women is 85.7 years and 80.4 for men. Almost one in five people is over 65 years old and half of the active population, that is, eight million people, is between 55 and 70 years old. “Working after age 63 is uncommon and after age 66 is very exceptional.”

___If longevity does not stop growing and poblation is increasingly older, reforms are necessary to discourage the expulsion of those over 55 from the labor market, he assured Fdez.

Given the real need in many entities to manage teams of different ages, the deputy director of the Mutua explained the importance of addressing "generational diversity for better business coexistence so that conflicts derived from different points of view in the personal and work spheres are avoided. The solution involves the development of a strategy to manage multigenerational teams" she explained, then giving way to describing these measures.

Create meeting spaces that encourage personal knowledge, promote mentoring programs, both in its classic model (the senior mentors the young person) and in the reverse (the young person guides the older person in the acquisition of new skills, especially technological) and plan Occupational Risk Prevention taking care of this increasingly broad group are some of the ideas that he summarized in his presentation.

“In business, addressing these issues is positive for organizations since it improves the reputation of the entity, attracts and retains talent, increases motivation and therefore reduces sick leave and absenteeism, and increases innovation and creativity, in addition to the fact that ethically and legally discrimination is a serious mistake” said Natalia Fdez.
