Natalia Fdez. Laviada participates in the conference "Gender, diversity and work: when not everything is violence"

The Asturian Institute for Occupational Risk Prevention yesterday hosted the Technical Conference "Gender, diversity and work: when not everything is violence" in Oviedo. The event focused on aspects that, without being classified as gender violence, must be addressed, treated and avoided, to ensure acceptable working conditions.   

The Occupational Risk Prevention Law, within the so-called “psychosocial risks” includes discriminatory work behaviors based on gender. The day opened Miryam Hernandez, director of the Asturian Institute of PRL and gave way to the intervention of the deputy general director of Prevention, Quality and Communication of Fraternidad-Muprespa,Natalia Fdez. Laviada, which detailed in its presentation how the lack of gender balance can be an obstacle for a company to optimize its performance. Supporting this statement, he provided some figures: about 57% of companies indicated that their initiatives in favor of gender diversity contribute to improving business performance and also to attracting and retaining talented professionals. In addition, more than 54% of companies noted improvements in creativity, innovation and reputation by adopting these measures. 

Subsequently, the screening of the film “Hidden Figures” took place, which tells the life of three African-American mathematicians and scientists who managed to break the gender barriers of the 1960s with their work for NASA. Next, a discussion table took place in which, in addition to Natalia Fdez. Laviada,Francisco Javier Llaneza, President of the Asturian Ergonomics Association and the Spanish Ergonomics Association,Helena Rodriguez, Head of the IAPRL Occupational Health Service,Ana I. Caro, Manager of the University of Oviedo,Nuria Varela, General Director of Equality,Marta Gonzalez, Head of HR at EMULSA, municipal urban environmental services company of Gijón S.A., and Carlos M. Paniceres, CEO of TRANSINSA, S.L.
