The integration of prl in business management, the focus of a CESSLA day in Cáceres
Fraternidad-Muprespa participated last Friday in the daya "Improve preventive activity and avoid accidents in your company. Benefits of integrating occupational risk prevention into business management", organized by the Extremadura Center for Occupational Safety and Health (CESSLA) and held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Cáceres.
The event is part of the 10th Prevention Week that the Mutual Collaborator with Social Security carries out around April 28, World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This year the chosen motto is “If everything is in its place, accidents have no place”.
The opening of the day was carried out by Maria Dolores Cortés, Provincial Director of Fraternidad-Muprespa in Cáceres, who introduced the speakers and explained the axes on which the day focused.
gave way to Juan José Pérez, head of the Hygiene and Ergonomics Technical Section of CESSLA, who highlighted the need for risk prevention to not be alien to the business organization, but to be integrated into all phases. “Only in this way can the number of work accidents be reduced, productivity increased or the work environment improved, among other benefits,” he explained. Likewise, he added that “to efficiently integrate the prevention of occupational risks, the real involvement of management, the risk assessment of the processes, the adaptation of procedures with safety criteria, the continuous training of the team and their active participation to identify risks are essential.
Mar Morales, director of the Department of Prevention and Health Culture of Fraternidad-Muprespa, then intervened with the presentation “Integrating prevention is possible if you know how.” Morales, who reviewed her experience as a prevention manager, focused on the importance of applying appropriate strategies and the commitment of all hierarchical levels of an organization to meet the set goals and “obtain the benefits that derive from effective preventive management.”
He also explained the importance of Vision Zero and its transformative approach towards a preventive culture that is achieved by assuming leadership, identifying dangers, establishing goals, systematizing processes, using safe technologies, improving and developing competencies and intervening in people, motivating their involvement.
Juan Manuel Valmorisco, head of the Technical Section of Security and Training of the CESSLA, listed in his speech, “Benefits of a correct integration of ORP in the company”, the items with which the benefits of said integration are achieved, among others, the importance of working with social and economic indicators at the same time, taking into account that safety and health at work cannot be based only on the latter. Also, when faced with a risk of serious consequences, one must act quickly, taking immediate actions, and it is essential to find at all times the best ways to optimize efforts.
Pilar Bueno, General Director of Labor of the Government of Extremadura, then intervened to present the “ITSS actions regarding PRL in Extremadura in 2025. Public aid to companies in the Government of Extremadura”. He addressed the initiatives of the autonomous community to improve working conditions that have a direct impact on the reduction of accidents.
Finally, Montserrat Martin, dTerritorial director of the ITSS, reported on action plans for specific control campaigns in certain risk sectors as well as advisory tasks to verify compliance with the PRL law.
The day ended with the interventions of two company representatives, who highlighted the benefits of the implementation of a preventive culture and its direct improvement in the company's image. Alberto Garcia, Quality&Enviroment Manager at Simelsa, addressed the importance of correct application of standards and procedures in the organization, as a driver of a solid preventive culture in terms of occupational health and safety. For your part Esther ramirez, head of human resources at Provecaex, highlighted the entity's strong commitment to promoting a preventive culture in the workplace.
