The Spanish Association of Occupational Prevention Services AESPLA celebrated the 25th anniversary of its creation on May 23, an event in which a tour of the history of the entity was made, in whose birth Fraternidad-Muprespa actively participated, and its importance in the social, labor, economic and institutional sphere as a reference in the field of occupational risk prevention, health and occupational well-being was highlighted.

He then gave way to three key figures from AESPLA: Alfonso González, from ADIF, promoter of the creation of the Association; Concepción Martín de Bustamante, president between 2013 and 2021; and Antonio Díaz Ruiz, current president. His words were complemented by the participation of the associates, through videos that answered questions such as “What has AESPLA meant to you?”, “What does AESPLA give you” or “What do you expect from AESPLA?”

González reviewed the work dedicated to promoting risk prevention in different social and business spaces. “In those first years of AESPLA,” he assured, “it was essential to make other levels of companies see the importance of ORP.”

Martín de Bustamante described as the objective of the Association's work during the eight years in which he presided it, that "the challenge was to achieve 'zero accidents'." “It seemed like a utopia but AESPLA and I were convinced that it was possible,” he said.

Díaz, the current president of the entity, for his part, highlighted that the mission and vision of AESPLA is to provide service to its associates by generating a real value proposition for companies, “providing added value to the company through comprehensive health care for employees, not seeing it as a legal requirement to be met, but as a strategic people contingency plan, to ensure that the business continues to function and is not paralyzed or slowed down,” he noted, which is achieved “through individual professionalism, shared knowledge, teamwork and respect for organizational diversity, we move together towards excellence in prevention,” he added.

During the event, a letter was read from Pedro Oya, former deputy general director of Fraternidad-Muprespa and one of the founders of the entity, who recalled the origins of AESPLA in 1999, in the context of the merger of and the need to respond to the then recent Occupational Risk Prevention Law. His testimony provided a valuable historical perspective on the evolution of preventive culture in the business environment.

Antonio Garamendi offered during his speech a strategic vision of the changes in the productive fabric in the last 25 years, highlighting the evolution of the focus on prevention. He stressed “in these years, the synergy between business organizations and prevention services has made us move from a palliative culture to a preventive culture, a transformation,” he added, “that not only improves safety, but also has a direct impact on the competitiveness of companies.”

The day also included a different artistic proposal, with the pianist Marta Espídos, who offered an original musical interpretation. The anniversary event ended with a family photo of AESPLA companies and collaborators.
