3D: International Day of People with Disabilities

General

Since 1992, International Day of People with Disabilities is celebrated on December 3. It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly with the objective of promoting the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all areas of society and development, as well as raising awareness about their situation in all aspects of political, social, economic and cultural life.

This year the day focuses on the motto "Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation to promote an accessible and equitable world", something that Fraternidad-Muprespa fully shares, since it considers that an inclusive society is more fair and equitable and that this inclusion is achieved by promoting the participation of people with disabilities in all areas of life, of course also at work.

In the words of the ONU, the inclusion of disability is an essential condition for respect for human rights, sustainable development, peace and security and of course, also key so that no one is left behind in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

In this way, the path is laid out to prevent the most vulnerable people from being the ones who lose out again in moments of crisis, such as those derived from the Covid pandemic and the war in Ukraine, as well as its fatal consequences.

In Fraternidad-Muprespa, according to the data from the latest report, corresponding to the end of 2021, the Mutual Fund's staff has 50 people affected by some degree of disability, 28 women and 22 men. 31 workers carried out their work in the administrative field and 19 in the healthcare field. Their contracts were 94% permanent, with 72% of them being full-time. These employees constituted 2.42% of the total workforce at the end of last year, a figure that confirms the Mutua's desire for inclusion, beyond compliance with the General Law on the Rights of People with Disabilities.

In addition, the Inserta agreement, signed in 2016 with the ONCE Foundation for the training and employment of people affected by disabilities, is still in force. And last year the Mutual Fund renewed for two years its commitment to adhere to the Diversity Charter, subscribed since 2011, with which it voluntarily assumes, among others, the principles of raising awareness about equal opportunities, advancing in the construction of a diverse workforce and promoting the inclusion of all people who belong to the company.
