More than two hundred people attended the third session of SafetyTalks, the training itinerary created by Prevencionar, the occupational risk prevention dissemination website, and starring Rafael Delgado, Fraternidad-Muprespa Prevention consultant.

In this edition, held last April 28, Delgado focused on the importance of communication as an essential tool to resolve tensions and improve relationships in the work environment, based on a key principle:“A conflict is not a problem, but an opportunity to grow”.

The author detailed the fundamental concepts to understand and manage conflicts effectively, highlighting that, although there are widely implemented technical methods, the key is to work on the way we communicate. To do this, he analyzed various common situations in the field of Occupational Health and Safety that can lead to friction and explained how to address them from a communicative approach that favors resolution. “It is not just about applying procedures, but about understanding how we relate and how that impacts preventive behavior.”, he noted.

The webinar delved into techniques based on listening and tactical empathy, two pillars that allow you to defuse tensions and generate a climate of trust, explaining tools such as Rapport, Isopraxis or Labeling, all of them aimed at improving interpersonal connection and preventing conflicts from festering.“The difference is not in ‘what’ we communicate, but in ‘how’ we do it”, a premise that invites us to rethink the way messages are transmitted in the work environment.

Delgado's conclusion is that conflict management requires less confrontation and more emotional understanding and, focusing on prevention, he emphasized that it is not only built with rules, but with quality human relationships.

In conclusion, the consultant quoted Maya Angelou, an American writer, at the closing of the webinar, stating that“People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
