Domestic employee regime

The Special Regime for Domestic Employees was integrated into the General Social Security Regime with an effective date of January 1, 2012, developing protection for Temporary Disability due to Professional and Common Contingencies.

It covers under its coverage the special employment relationship of the family home service, which is agreed upon by the owner of the same, as employer, and the employee who, independently and on behalf of the former, provides paid services in the area of ​​the family home. These services are the various types of domestic tasks, as well as the direction or care of the home as a whole or some of its parts, the care or attention of family members or people who are part of the domestic or family environment, and other jobs that are carried out as part of the set of domestic tasks, such as daycare, gardening, driving vehicles and other similar tasks.

Economic benefits

In the case of domestic employees who work less than 60 hours per month for the same employer and who have agreed to be responsible for the payment of their contributions, it will be a necessary requirement to access benefits to be up to date with the payment of Social Security contributions.

Risk for Pregnancy or Breastfeeding

Organic Law 3/2007 of March 22 for the effective equality of women and men, establishes that the economic benefit for risk during Pregnancy and during Natural Breastfeeding will have the nature of benefit derived from professional contingencies.

Care of minors affected by cancer or serious illness

On December 23, 2010, a new economic benefit for the care of minors affected by cancer or another serious illness was incorporated into the General State Budget Law for the year 2011, entrusting mutual societies with its recognition, management and payment.

It is intended for parents, adopters or foster parents, when both work and have to reduce their working hours, at least by 50%, to care for a minor affected by cancer or another serious illness, which requires long-term hospitalization and continued treatment of the disease.
