Financial benefit for caring for minors affected by cancer or another serious illness

What is it?

It is a benefit in the nature of a subsidy managed by mutual societies that collaborate with Social Security, for the workers of their mutual companies and affiliated self-employed workers.

Its objective is to compensate for the loss of income suffered by those people who have to reduce their working hours for the direct, continuous and permanent care of their dependent children or minors who are affected by cancer or another serious illness, during the time of hospitalization and continued treatment of the disease.

Who can be a beneficiary?

Workers who reduce their working day by at least 50% of its duration, provided that they meet the general condition of being affiliated and registered in some regime of the Social Security system and accredit the minimum contribution periods required in each case.

Only one of the parents, adopters or foster parents can be a beneficiary of the benefit, regardless of the number of minors who are affected by cancer or other serious illness that require direct, continuous and permanent care (there is the possibility of alternating the benefit).

How is it paid and in what amount?

The benefit consists of a subsidy, accrued daily, equivalent to 100% of the regulatory base established for the Temporary Disability benefit, derived from Professional Contingencies or, where applicable, that derived from Common Contingencies, applying the percentage reduction experienced in the working day.

The contributions made during the benefit period will be computed increased to 100% of the amount that would have corresponded if it had been maintained without said reduction for the purposes of certain benefits. The company will pay the portion proportional to the non-reduced working day.

Working people for themselves will have a bonus in the quotes of 75%.
